stand spools- axel mount?

I'm thinking of getting a rear stand for my 04' SH. Is there any reason I can't bolt on spools by going right through the axel with a long bolt? The axel is hollow right through . Any feedback would be welcome. thanx.

joshuatest is an unknown quantity at this point
Its hollow, but has a bolt on the left side.... Not sure how that would work... why not just get stand that lifts swing arm?

That's exactly what I did. Took a piece of steel bar stock, press fit a spool on the right side, turned down about two inches at the left end ( smaller diameter opening in the axle on left side), slip-fit a spool on the left end, drilled a small hole in the left end of the bar to allow a removeable clip to be fitted preventing the left side spool from walking off the end of the bar. When I want to clean and lube the chain I slip the bar in from the right side, slide my removeable spool on from the left, and pass my retaining clip through it's hole on the left end. Much more secure than the rubber pads on my PitBull underneath the swingarm. Unfortunately I can't use this set-up when I remove the rear wheel for tire changes. But since I usually go about 5,000 miles between tires and only 300-350 miles between chain cleaning and lubing and rim detailing it's a winner in my book.
