Squeaky squealing motor

I've been waiting a while to ask this because I'm not sure I want an answer but here goes. At very low rpms (500 or so) I get a squeaking coming from my motor. At anything above about 1500 rpm it turns into a steady squeal. I am relatively sure it's coming from the bottom end and can be heard similarly on either side but a bit louder on the right. Unfortunately there was probably some gas in the oil a while ago. I'm going to try adjusting my rear cct tomorrow but I really don't think that's it. Has anyone ever had a bearing go out on their hawk or heard of it? I've probably put over 500 miles on it like this with no changes or problems.

I was going to suggest CCT, but you are already there. Maybe try synthetic oil, see what that does. I am a old school petroleum oil guy myself.

CCTs too tight give a noise. Not sure i would call it a squeal, but maybe loosen them up a bit and see what happens. Gas in oil sucks!

I've been tinkering with my a/f mixture but don't have the tool so I keep taking the carbs off and trying different settings. I'm almost all stock and that was 1.75 out. The idle went back up to 1100 where I keep it once it was warm.

Maybe I'm fretting over nothing, my dad rode it the other day and he didn't notice anything wrong and he ran his own motorcycle speed shop for a while... but that was in the seventies and his hearing isn't so great anymore. on the other hand I found a video of a hawk on youtube that I can hear at least some of the squeaking in. Mine seems a little louder though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTPNrwbJZl4

I'm no mechanic, but i listened to the clip and my bike sounds similar - maybe a touch quieter. I still have the OEM CCTs in. I always thought that whine was the valve train and was common to VTRs.

Sounds like the typical VTR "sewing machine" sound to me.

The whistle is the cam chain on the guides. Reminds me of an F4 Phantom flaring in for a landing.

Sounds fairly normal to me. Does it bog on the low end?

You're probably just hearing the lovely whine of the primary drive gear. It is a straight-cut gear and whines like a gear-driven camshaft.

I hope that's all it is. Primary drive gear makes sense.

I just grabbed a DVD of "Deliverance" off the shelf yesterday, just to see how an old DVD would play on a Blueray. That scene is still rough to watch. But how great is the next scene where you see Burt coming into focus pulling back the recurve and fire the bow. I still can't figure out if the Drew character was shot or just jumped in to the water.

Um... my bike sounds like the vid also.

I noticed the same sound and I think I found the source, pretty sure it's coming from my paranoid mind.

I've watched vids online too and they all seem to have that same exact sound.

my wife likes to tease me about the fact that my big bad twin whines like it does. but other times she says it sounds more like a "serious" bike that the buzzing of the I-4's. I just think its the sound of not having to do valve adjustments every 5k miles.
