Sorry, but i have a r/r and cct question.

Are either of these parts upgraded in the later models? Im looking at a couple of 2005' s. Both of them look pretty clean and quite low kms. One at 18000km and the other at 10500 km. Both are stock as well. Does $4500 cdn seem high? I was originally looking for a vfr but the vtr1000 seems to keep alot of people here happy, and it seems to be more affordable. Sure wish they had larger tanks though.

the R/R and the cct's were not upgraded to sort of speak.redefined some but not in anyway superior to doing the proper mods.

I'd guess canadian since he's stating canadian funds. Depending on the condition, $4500 isn't unheard of. I'd try and go lower though, but I'm a cheap bastard.

cct are the same on all the firestorm/superhawk models.
pretty sure about the regulators too. (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

yes, they are the same for both named bikes,2001 is when they did slight upgrades.the only difference is the bigger tank across the pond.

And the newer models had r/r's with cooling fins, 2005 did for sure. They were not MOSFET units, but better than the old stock r/r.

Nope... The fins adds nothing in terms of cooling... They are exactly the same in terms of how reliable they are... Or rather unreliable...

Look at it this way, if (note if) the R/R had some airflow over it, the fins would in theory based on their size, material and coarseness account for a rough difference of 4-5% of thermal efficiency... And that is on a piece of aluminium that reaches 70 degrees celsius in less than 60 seconds when you start the bike... Ie, it would then take 3-4 seconds more to reach that temperature...

And since the R/R has no airflow what-so-ever, the fins does only add mass and a slight increase of area, nothing else... In terms of thermal efficiency, that accounts for less than 1%...

So, in real numbers, the fins makes no difference at all... The only difference between an R/R from 99 and one from 05 is 6 years of usage...

So, can all the people around here stop repeating myths, and find out stuff first now? Or ar we still going to repeat to all newcomers that the 01- R/R is "upgraded"... ?
