Soon to be owner!

Hello Superhawkers! First post here. I am the excited soon to be owner of a '99 hawk. I should be picking it up tomorrow or the next day. Bike has around 30k on the gauge and I'm paying 2k for it. No damage except for a ding in the gas tank. It has the MCCT on the forward cylinder, I'll have to install the rear myself. Do these bikes have pretty good engine longevity? Or, is 30K one foot in the grave?

About me: This will be the eighth motorcycle I've owned. 29 years old at the western tip of Lake Superior. I like girls. I have dogs. I like sunshine and standing at the edge of cliffs.

-Cheers!

Well I broke 85K miles a little while back and is still running strong so I don't think you have much to worry about though only changing one CCT is kind of an odd thing.

Yea, he said it started making some noise, so he got right on it. 85K, wow. This '99 is still just a baby.

Oh, I'm not trying to start another one of these threads but, what's the consensus on oil weight. I usually run 20/50 in my thumpers and twins and 10/40 in four+ cylinders. Does the superhawk have a preference. I would like to change the oil as soon as I have possession.

Thanks again.

Welcome!

Just under 50k miles on my '05 and running 10w40 as Honda recommends. API SJ is best, to avoid clutch slippage, available at motorcycle dealers.

Enjoy the torque!

Great, 10W40 it is. I still have some leftover from my VFR! One last oil question (I know I should be doing a search) : How many quarts with a filter change? I do not have the owners manual, sorry for the stupid questions. I am really looking forward to the torque. The VFR was nice, but I just love the V-twin sound and feel.
