Side stand. Switch must be malfunctioning. I would think that it would not go into gear with that light on all the time though.

It will go into gear but should die as soon as you do but yeah the bike should not be able to be ridden with that light on.

So if it dies when you put it in gear, the side stand switch has a problem.

If you can put it into gear and it keeps running, you have a short somewhere.

Why all the double posting???

Anyways look at this and you will see where the switch should be:

http://www.hondapartsline.com/fiche_...1998&fveh=4077

If there is not switch there, then you can use the finch to see how long the lead was and start hunting for the jumper or the wires that are twisted together when the bypassed the switch.

Then get what you need to reinstall the side stand switch as it's pretty bad idea to ride a street bike (or any bike with a side stand) without one.

bike runs great!!! I ordered a larger gel battery that will be here sometime next week I will go ahead and order the switch at the same time and do them both
.. this winter i want relocating the battery back into the tail more, so I can lowering the seat frame about 2" and narrow it too. I want it about the with of the new Dacati 848 with a step up for the passenger. I am sure there is enought room to pull this off.

When I do this I will be installing small amount of memory foam at the base lvl. I will need to make a new seat frame to attach everthing too but that the easy part.
