s light?????????????????????

my bike died this week and will not charge so I replaced the voltage rectifier with one from a 98 r1 according to the link on the forum.. things went well and now its charging but the light on the pod that has an "s" is lit what does it mean?

lukenukem47 10-17-2010 12:22 PM

help

what does the light on the pod with an s mean why would it stay on?

s is for your side stand saying it is down, maybe switch is bad

Side stand. Switch must be malfunctioning. I would think that it would not go into gear with that light on all the time though.

It will go into gear but should die as soon as you do but yeah the bike should not be able to be ridden with that light on.

So if it dies when you put it in gear, the side stand switch has a problem.

If you can put it into gear and it keeps running, you have a short somewhere.

Look at your other post with the same question to see my answer......

lukenukem47 10-17-2010 12:53 PM

new problem haha drove it about 3 block and total power loss but gauges work.. put in neutral and starts but put in gear dead and that dam light is on.. my guess is the side stand switch is was stuck allowing the bike to run well not the oppsite .. thankfully i was only few blocks not miles

lukenukem47 10-17-2010 12:54 PM

cant see any wires or switches to the side stand when is the switch?

8541Hawk 10-17-2010 01:05 PM

Why all the double posting???

Anyways look at this and you will see where the switch should be:

http://www.hondapartsline.com/fiche_...1998&fveh=4077

If there is not switch there, then you can use the finch to see how long the lead was and start hunting for the jumper or the wires that are twisted together when the bypassed the switch.

Then get what you need to reinstall the side stand switch as it's pretty bad idea to ride a street bike (or any bike with a side stand) without one.

found in under the seat jamed next to the battery all zip tied together all i did was turn the switch until the light went off and now everything is ok..... dam it i hate when people half ass stuff. Walking 3 blocks with my bike when it was this simple pisses me off! well thanks everyone like always your a huge help. I will be replacing that in the near future

bike runs great!!! I ordered a larger gel battery that will be here sometime next week I will go ahead and order the switch at the same time and do them both
.. this winter i want relocating the battery back into the tail more, so I can lowering the seat frame about 2" and narrow it too. I want it about the with of the new Dacati 848 with a step up for the passenger. I am sure there is enought room to pull this off.

When I do this I will be installing small amount of memory foam at the base lvl. I will need to make a new seat frame to attach everthing too but that the easy part.
