Rode a gixxer 6 last night....

So my buddy brought over his 06 Gixxer 600 last night and let me take it around the block.... The ergos weren't as bad as I expected....of course I didn't go on a long ride, but it didn't contort me too bad. And the weight and handling....wow...solid and sharp, even with the flat-spot he had on his tire... He'd only put 700 miles on it in like 10 months.... Needless to say I went out and rode it harder than he had, and didn't even push it.... And all I have to say is....TORQUELESS. It was a sweet bike but I could never see myself owning a 600 and being happy riding it. But I did get it up to about 15k (redline was in the 16's somewhere), in 1st and 2nd gear, and I see why people like them......as long as you're up there....damn what a slingshot.. It was definitely a completely different riding experience, I'll say that for sure! But I'll be happy to get back on the hawk where I don't have to hold out in a gear to go anywhere

Lucky you.. I've often wanted to jump on a I-4 bike and see what the difference is... Maybe I'll get lucky enough one day.

Once you hit 11-12k, hold on...

But until then you'll be yawning.

I sold my 03' CBR600RR in favor of a Hawk. The 600 was quite a bor around town. It was good on the track, but I find the 996 to be it's equal it terms of all around track fun. My Hawk is so sweet on the street, I always find myself smiling inside my Arai.

I rode a GSXR1100 for five years (25 years old). I always looked at V-twins as nice bikes for older gents and definately not in the sport bike mentality. Now I'm 38 and was close to buying another GSXR when a freind introduced me to the Superhawk. I've had it about a month now with no regrets. For mild road racing and wheelie action the Superhawk is hard to beat. I love the torque monstering it from light to light. Take me to a track day or open speed limit highway and I'm afraid I'll have to park my Hawk and jump on the GSXR. We all have our place i suppose.

Well. I guess I made a good choice then. I like the around town, light to light, short (couple hundred mile) trips... I'm no track man, nor do I need to be going any faster than it'll carry me (currently 160 mph). And I do LOVE THE TORQUE!!!

yeah my buddy has a gixxer 750 and he's always asking me about the tread on his rear tire when we ride. then he gets mad when we stop for food and people wanna talk about my bike.

by the way, just joined the forums. it's like a support group for shawk owners! can't wait to start interacting with everybody.
