Racing the Superhawk- Report from Summit!

Well, I posted a couple of weeks ago that I was going to race the Superhawk at Summit Point and did that this weekend. Results were pretty good.
It started out when I went to tech on Saturday. Started up the bike, put it in first and bike dies. Right away- I still needed to short the sidestand switch. So, push the bike to tech. No problems. Fix sidestand switch and move on.

Saturday Practice-
Went out in the 1st practice session, taking it easy. I hadn't had the bike on the track in 2 years and just wanted to get a feel for it. Needless to say, it's a little more powerful than my SV. I pulled out of Turn 10 on to the front straight and pulled the trigger like I was on the SV. It looked like Fastforward on a VCR I ran LWT practice on the SV next and felt like I was riding a toy. Ran 1 more practice on the Honda and called it a day

Now- Raceday!
Adjusted rear rideheight before practice. I was dragging the turkey pan (fluid retention) which was right against the header. Practice went well on the VTR and the SV. Got the Debris flag pointed at me in the 2nd practice session. The turkey pan came loose and was dragging on the track. Pull off on the grass and had a "moment". Luckily, I was smart enough to let out of the front brake. So I ride into the pits -on the grass- and fix the pan for the racing.

Race 3- Heavyweight Superstock Expert and Novice
So, I grid up for the HWT SS Novice race. Green flag drops and I actually get a decent start, until an Expert checks up in front of me on a Ducati. So, for the first lap I play catch-up, On lap 2, I start setting up to pass people and a red flag comes out. Two EX riders came together in T9. Complete restart. On the restart, same thing- decent start, same guy checks up and this time pulls off track. play catch-up again. Get through first three laps getting a feel for racing this thing. My day's mistake. Anyway, on the beginning of the 5th lap I beat two bikes on the brakes into T1. Cool- Now I'm in 2nd I can see the guy leading on an RC51 about 1 1/2 turns ahead. I put my head down. At the end of the Race I ended up in 2nd. Another lap, and I would've beat him.

Overall, It was a good day of racing for me. I got 2nd in Formula 2 on my SV and had a BLAST racing the VTR. It was pretty competitive in Novice class.

I finished 2nd in WERA Mid-Atlantic points for Lightweight SS, LWT SBK and Formula 2 for 2007. Next year I race Expert- and learn how to race all over again

I'll post some pics when I get them.

Nah, he was no where near braking for T1. I don't know if he was having bike problems, Couldn't start to save his ***, or what. When he pulled off the track the 2nd time, I guessed probably bike problems.

Besucher98, I'm a few miles from the Summit Point track, and 1 mile from the casino. What color is your bike? I've only seen one, yellow SHawk around here.

Do you know Purcellville, Va.? I'm just west of it of of business 7. By the way. I'm planning a ride with some work folks on the 13th. Let me know if you can make it. I'm sure it would scare these guys if 2 Superhawks were there!

Who are you kidding, BLUE has ALWAYS been the fastest color out there

I'd love to ride with you guys, but I live in Va Beach and next week I'm moving to Pascagoula, Mississippi for about a year

I may race this thing at the WERA Grand National Final (GNF) next week. I'll have the SH with me so we'll see how I feel after the practice session wednesday on my SV.....
