Yeah...that's why I view the 750 as a good track bike. right in between the 600 and 1k. however, the lighter they make the 1ks, the better they will be. It would be tough to pick a bike.

I know you know your way around the bike so I won't lecture but point out a failure in my bike's charging system that I was totally unaware of. At the very front of the seat, if you remove it and pull up the plastic sheild you will find a connector group that includes all the major players in the charge circuits. Mine was corroded, wires partially melted, messed up. The connectors have to be removed and the wires spliced back together. Because you're splicing in the middle of the harness putting them back in the protector (which doesn't work anyway) is not possible. In your climate I can imagine that you get caught in wet weather a lot. All the rain that hits the rider drains right through this area.

ive been in that area before and its always looked clean. ive been caught in rain twice with this bike in the last two seasons of riding and i try to avoid the stuff. i wash it a handful of times a year and usually use a quick detailer to clean it up unless theres grime that needs removing. ill go through that wiring before putting it all back together. thanks for reminding me of them.

the new 1ks are quick and light, but the 750s arent far off their pace, drop a tooth toss on a pipe do a tune and youre a competitor. plus its that much cheaper on insurance. hell my buddy with his 675 daytona pays 90 a month for insurance, i pay 155. another reason i want a 750, lol

Uchi, I'm not too far from you. How are you getting screwed so bad for insurance? Who are you with?

I had the same problem with my 98 hawk, 3 batteries new regulator. fried that regulator, replaced with a ricks vtr1000 regulator and a new electrosport stator, two weeks later I fried the regulator again. I wanted to get the shot gun too instead I just kicked it over. Did some reasearch, replaced the regulator with a 2003 r1 ricks regulator (much larger, disperses the heat better) and walaa fixed. my wiring was fried on the plug of the regulator too before I replaced.

im sure thats all it was, combo of heat and aftermarket reg. i just need a change i think plus im sick of dealing with carbs, i need a lighter bike for the street this one is fun but after riding a few more modern bikes it feels like a tank. hell even my 98 zx6r is a featherweight compared to this.

matt365, im with statefarm. it started off at 112 for liability. then the new laws came out and it went up to like 125, and i added fire and theft to it after seeing a few bikes around me go missing so now its 155. insane right. statefarm said they would knock off 600 a year if i brought my truck and suv over to them. but it turns out that they cant touch my car insurance rates and even with the multi car discount and bike discount it would still be 10 bucks a month more to use just statefarm than to use two seperate insurance companies. ive been in there a few times, talked to the, thats as cheap as they can go. and no one else ive talked to can give me a better rate so im stuck with it.

I tracked my batt drainage down to a current drain that was related to the odometer. pulling the fuse solved this and the battery never has a problem anymore.

I need to quit posting on subjects like this!! Last week went to go to work. Incert key. Lights come on. Hit starter button. All goes black! Fuse? Take car to work.

Started t/s yesterday. Checked all fuses. All good with Fluke and nice and clean connections. Just for fun turned ignition on and....lights. Hmmmm? Hit starter and ....VRoooom! A short some where near the fuse box was my first thought. Looked for shorts for about 2 hours. Wrong first guess!!

Suggestion for T/S'n ......shut off lights(do in dark). Sparks MAY lead you to the problem!

Loose Neg battery connection!
