Hi Folks, I'm new to the forum as I just acquired my first VTR1000. its a 2000 model, very clean, needs a bit of minor rust cleaning from inside the fuel tank, aside from that an oil /filter change and she will be good to go. She has 14,000km on her, one owner bike, all original with the exception of a rear brake light "pulser" which the prior owner added for safety.
I will have to see if that front header pipe can be polished up, and I will need to clean the front cylinder as well, my OCD won't allow it to stay like that.
Im a self confessed bike junkie, I think I'm up to 12 just now, mainly sport bikes, I restore a bike every winter and ride in the summer. Im up in Northern Ontario Canada so winters are long, cold and snowy, bikes go away in October and don't come out till May.
Good to be here, Im interested in any tips you may have on these lovely bikes, anything to watch for thats a common problem ?, I read here about the CCT's , where is the best place to go to buy MCCT's for these bikes ?

Long time no Post. I finally got back to the Firestorm. The main task was to clean the fuel tank and replace the in tank filter. PO had left it with 1/2 tank fo fuel at some point and the hump in the middle of the tank (that you can see when you pop the gas cap), had some surface rust.
I pulled the tank, drained it, removed the petcock, plugged the hole with a cork and put 3 gallons of evaporust in it. Its been 2 days now and there is almost no trace of rust left. great stuff, non corrosive and works very well indeed.
Did the oil and filter change as well.
A few weeks back I brought this home too. A bit dirty in this picture but its now pristine. came with the original pipes and pillion seat too. only 6,700km on the odometer
thanks KoKo, I recently sold some of the 2 strokes. (Rz350, Rz500, RG250 and RGV250) and bought a few others. (RC51, Z1000, Hawk GT647 etc). I have another rc51 to go and get next week.
Here is my new z1000, its an '04 with only 2,500km on it, basically brand new. no mods, 100% stock which is rare to find as most have the pipes changed and stock signals removed, rear fender delete. Im a keep it stock kinda guy, so this was a beauty find at a great price. I have the factory solo seat cover as well.
