New to the VTR

New to the VTR but not to bikes, have only had the VTR a couple of days and only managed to ride her about 50 kms, but its a nice wee bike with pretty responsive handling. Im a little dissapointed with the brakes but give me time I'll sort them out. I like the feel and size of the bike and cant wait till the weather picks up so I can get out and enjoy her

Hi and welcome. I've had mine 2 weeks.
Its nice but needs carb work.
I too though the brakes were **** but I chucked new pads on and im impressed for 13yr old stoppers.
Cheers from Australia.

Welcome! Coming from Yamaha I agree with the lack of brakes, just last night I swapped on some 2001 Gixxer 1000 6 piston Tokicos. Will get to ride it this weekend after I have lines made!

Usually some good pads and braided lines will get you set up for street riding.

Welcome to the fold.

One good thing about the VTR is that you can play with it and notice improvements straight away.

Be careful because once you start it's hard to stop.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I got my first chance to take her out for a decent run today, 450mile round trip on some of the best roads South Island New Zealand has to offer and I was very impressed. Shes a bike that is very easy to throw thru the corners fast, suspension very forgiveing, and a neat little fun package. Ive only just downsized from a 00 Hayabusa and a 07 GSX1400, as I needed to slow down, LOL, but althought the VTR doesnt have the brutal excelleration of the other 2 she would be just as fast thru the twisty stuff and thats were I enjoy riding. And at the end of it she was like a little puppy sitting there panting wanting more. Neat wee bike.
Im running pilot road 2 on the front and pirelli Angel on the rear, and they seem very well suited to the bike. Ive read mixed reports on the Angels but they were brilliant today, and totally inspired confidence. I can report, no chicken strips left and some very serious black lines coming out of some slow corners.
So an excellent day on an excellent little allrounder bike.
