not sure which topic to search/post this one: front end swaps

Among all the front-end swaps (pref to USD) do any allow retention of the original bodywork?
My Gen-Mar bar risers are going bye-bye if I can.

I may be wrong but I believe all the swap can utilize the original fairings. I'm doing the RC51 front end swap right now. And some swaps you have to trim a little of the inner fairing, which isn't even visible so it's not a big deal. But as long as you get clip ons that end up in the right spot you shouldn't have issues. Have you looked at the "front fork swap guide"? It's like the handbook to front end swaps on the hawk. The RC51 SP1 swap is the best fit in terms of as close to a bolt on with minimal modifications. Althought RC parts are getting harder to find and more $. I got lucky a week or so ago and found a full front end from an SP1 for a good price. But search for the "front fork swap guide" and u should get all your answers.

Thanx. I've skimmed the guide in the knowledge base, but didn't see this issue addressed directly.

What swap are you thinking of doing? From what I've read on here the cbr1000rr front end 2004-2007 I believe is the next best fit after an Rc51 front end. Most swaps also need modifications of the steering stops to get full lock

CBR1000RR front end, I didn't cut anything on the fairing, there are some other adjustments like radiators and some wiring you got to move a bit, other than that nothing on the bodywork, and this is one of the wider forks around, for some they had to shave the fairing a little from the inside lower area close to the forks

I used a front from 06-07 and the front wheel from 2011 which is also the lightest wheel they ever produced for the CBR1000RR, even lighter than the new 12 spoke models.

I agree 1000RR is easiest. I didnt even move the rads, but did loose a bit of steering lock.

I am now doing the zx10 front end which lets you use the stock wheel. (if you use 600rr triples). This one may take longer and is on my other hawk.
