New to the SuperHawk, New to this forum
Just wanted to make my first post. I have had a few bikes, GSX R 600,
Duc 748 and SV 650. I was bike less for a spell I ended up between a Kawi z1000 and the SuperHawk. Needless to say after I rode the superhawk the desition was made.
Must be the easiest bike to ride. I am faster up the canyons on this bike then I ever was on my Duc, or the GSXR. and i am more comfy doing it.I can't say enough good about it. I wish I got
this bike a few years back so I would not have lost the money on my DUC.
I picked up a left over 03. can't wait to do a few mods..

Milkman,
Hello from another new guy here. I found this site about 2 weeks back and enjoy visiting it.
I hope we can get more SH owners visiting.
Yes, the SH is a sweet ride. I think it is an overlooked gem, IF you like V twins.
I have some standard mods (exhaust, jet kit, braided lines, sprocket, etc.) and have found the SH to be quite competent pitted against many inline 4 sport bikes.
I'm sure differences would show quickly on the racetrack , but on the street, and in the twisties, a hadfull of throttle will reward you with a ton-o-fun.
Mentioning brakes lines...that was a HUGE improvement!! I ordered Gafler pads and braided lines from: http://www.cyclebrakes.com/
Good price, good folks and good products.
Ride safe!

Nope, don't work at Amerex. BUT...if you walk straight out my back door, walk about 1 mile through the woods, you'll be standing in Amerex's parking lot.
I drive by there regulary.
It is a small world. I was in Washington state a few years back and hanging on the wall right beside where I was sitting was an Amerex fire extinguisher.
Where do you live?

LOL! from you this is perfectly credible Doug!! nice try
Welcome aboard Milkman, hope you will enjoy this forum as much as me!
For the mods, of course it will depend of your budjet but as you sold your Duc to buy a VTR, I guess it left you around 10 000$ in your pocket! hehe
Front brake need some update, stainless steel line or GSX calipers or both at your taste. Front and rear suspension also need some works, rear spacer to be add and spring+valve change in the front or maybe the 929/954/RC51 swap if you are as much willing or if you think to the track. And also the gearing, 43 tooth rear and maybe also a 15 tooth in front are some of good suggestion to only name these. There is also Superbling that have an interesting solution for some of those who are bored to look at their elbow on their mirror. BTW I think it will be my next one mod...
Just surf over the forum to learn about all these mods that can be perform on the VTR.
Enjoy!
Cheers

You can get a good deal on ebay on 520 conversion with 15 tooth frnt and 43 rear just have to cut chain to length. The place is called sum of all parts 139.99 comes with rk x chain front steel and vortex aluminum rear sprocket.
Love the difference pulls hard out of coners, the only draw back, (if you want to call it a draw back,) is it wheelies way easy!!
