I recently bought a blue 2003 with pinstriping done by a well-known pinstriper and previous owner of the bike. It’s in mint original condition with 22,000kms (14,000mi). I didn’t like the pin-striping when I bought it but it’s growing on me. Any idea how I would remove it without damaging the original paint if I decide I want to remove them? It’s not under clearcoat.
The second issue is the Yoshimura RS-3’s I assumed were the same as the ones I had on my 2003 SH I owned in 2010. Turns out these pipes are “street”pipes with welded in baffles that are not to be removed. My previous bike had a small insert that could be removed by undoing one allen bolt. They sounded amazing. I have ordered some GRMoto Carbons but can’t find much info or sound clips of them. If they don’t fit the bill I am going to try Blue Flame. What’s the difference between single port and twin port in regards to sound (deepness and volume)?
Yes, very clean bike. You could even say superclean.
By single and dual port, are you referring to the outlets on the end of the can?
Lots of factors involved in resulting sound. Dimensions of the cans, baffles or not, packing material and how burned it is, etc. Larger diameter and longer length the deeper the note, all else being equal.
I had a set of Vance & Hines that had twin outlets. Tone was good, but that was a long while ago and I don't have much to compare it to. IIRC I sold them to VTR1000. Maybe he can offer a comparison. My current exhaust is an Akrapovich full system and it's deep and throaty and a little loud when on the throttle hard. Straight through, no baffles. Captain exhaust will know.
The pin stripping wouldn't have been my fist choice for cosmetic mods either, but there it is. I would just live with it and learn to like it. The paint and finish on the stock plastics is a little fragile. If you go at it with a solvent you will most likely severely damage the finish. Don't ask me how I know.
I see what looks to be stock CCT. You might want to considering addressing that. Serious failure point on the SH.
Anyway welcome to the ghost town.

Reason: addition
Definitely look into getting those auto cam chain tensioners swapped.
And maybe ask the guy you bought it from on his advice if you wanted to remove those pin stripes. I'd think he'd be your best bet.
High mount pipes have a tendency to interfere with your heal placement, so don't sell your current ones till you know you can live with that issue. I hated it.
