Hello everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. Thanks so much for having this forum. I am a new member and a new owner of a 2003 Superhawk. I purchased mine from Washington state and had it shipped to Wisconsin where I live. She has 8100 miles on the clock.
The bike is gorgeous and rides very well. I am the third owner and the two previous owners were both mechanics. Got lucky there. The bike has multiple aftermarket bits, smoked double bubble windshield, Corbin seat, Two Brothers exhaust and, extra lower aftermarket fairing.
My only issue was the shipping company damaged the exhaust and the swingarm. The shipper tied the bike down improperly... It was a major task to get them to pay for the damage. They fought tooth and nail and I finally had to go through my insurance company American Family who were excellent in straightening out this problem. Interestingly after I wrote with help from a friend a strongly worded letter to the shipping company they reversed their decision. Because of a long delay in their Responce I had already begun to work with my insurance company. I sent their reversal letter directly to AmFam. AmFam paid me out fully (they didn’t keep my deductible) and went after the shipper directly. AmFam did a great job.
I had never shipped a motorcycle cross country before but now I know it is of the upmost importance to do as much research and documentation as possible. Take as many pictures as possible pre and post ship. Document everything with photo and video.
Thanks in advance for any future help with the bike.

Hopefully the damage you sustained is repairable/replaceable!! Shame the shipping company was careless...still looks to be a super clean example though 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks. She is very clean. Maybe one or two spots that need some touch up paint. I know the codes are probably on the forum somewhere. And in the end I’ll just probably put a sticker over the scratch on the swing arm. Ha
Blue - I'd suggest that you change all fluids if its not documented when they were done last.
Next is suspension stock? Depending upon your size (weight) ya may want to change out. These VTRs were made for someone about 170, if your north of 200 and want to ride twistys in an aggressive manner - switch out front/rear suspension. Best mod I ever did.
Bike looks good! Welcome to the fray. My first thought is missing decals. Any clues as to why? Lotta times that was due to an off.
Talked to the previous owner yesterday. He said he had the decals removed to, "better accentuate the shape of the bike and to not detract from its lines"...
I really don't mind and kind of like the clean look.

NNJ-
I brought the bike into Honda and had them do an inspection and they changed out fluids and consumables that were required. Oil / filter and plugs were only needed plus a little top off with brake and clutch fluids.
I also just received my two APE Manual Chain Adjusters (Wish they were blue!) that I will install this coming winter. 61' IH C120 Travelette 4x4 in the back ground... (First 4 door crew cab)
I had the same Apes - never touched em after install - years ago,
I change my clutch & brake fluid every 2 ys or so - DOT 4 synthetic - easy to do.
Good Luck
Thank you. I will look more into the “how to” but in your recollection how did you set the tension with the manual cam chain tensioner’s? Not sure how or what the tightness should be...
