Greetings All
This is a great forum, I am amazed at the activity here on a bike that has been out of production for almost ten years.
Been lurking here since picking up a 2003 Superhawk last November. Totally original with just under 7,000 miles on the clock.
Love the bike only changes so far are addition of Delkevic Tri Oval cans that I picked up from a member here. The torque and sounds of this honey are intoxicating! I also have a VFR 1000 but had not been riding much over the last five years. (My drivers license has no points on it now but somehow I don't think its going to stay that way)
Next up I have to give up a riding day and clean out, sink the carbs and check the TPS setting. She is definitely lean at idle with the occasional carb fart and idle instability.
Over the winter I plan to do the CCT mod, check out the RR and connections, front suspension needs work, (I can't believe how soft it is) and she will need new sneakers by then.

I was really lucky to get a blue one, my favorite color.
I'm sure that it is not the fastest color but better than arrest me red.
I'm also not sure if I want to ask if anyone has ever had these strange marks on their front tire. It is one way to get ride of the chicken strip on a 10 year old tire.
But what the heck let's share, that's what a forum is all about.

You either bumped a curb or someone is having some fun with you with a Sharpie.
I actually got something similar to that on my front tire when I accidentally hit a rather large and deep pothole. It only marked up about a quarter of the tire though.
Is your entire tire like that? Entirely? (try saying that ten times fast)

it looks like its do to VERY poorly set up suspension. probably a problem with your rebound damping. what do you weigh? i ask because im wondering how far off the stock internals are for your weight. id have the forks resprung and valved. maybe an aftermarket shock to.

Yes the marks go all the way around the front tire. No curb involved, though a I did get a good look at a guard rail and then a close up of a car license plate.
Did I mention that the front brake seems to be grabby when cold.
Something happened to my right boot, it has strange marks too.

Long story
When I leave work there is an oblong rotary that is 3 lanes wide. The 2 lanes on the right are always backed up waiting to get on 95 south.
The idiots also grid lock our entrance to the rotary. so I slither through the grid lock, pop into second in the left lane (digging the sound, digging the acceleration) and a black car jumps out of middle lane right in front of me. (I'm sure he never saw me coming).
I can't go to the left of him, guard rail there, I'm still leaned over a bit and have to jump on the brakes, front wheel locks, (you know the way the bars go limp in your hands) off the brakes but bike is sliding and I'm praying the guy who pulled out does not stop cause I'm staring at his bumper at eye level and think there is now way out of this mess.
My old dirt bike reactions kick in, stick my foot out which is promptly swept away. Next thing I know my knee hits the pavement and catapults me and the bike back up and I almost high side. Now I'm headed back into the middle lane which thankfully is open because all of the traffic is stopped watching this idiot ride a motorcycle like a mechanical bull.
Clutch in I set my **** back in the set hit the start button, drop it into first and putter away from the scene of my stupidity.
Get my composure back reach down and feel my knee expecting torn blue jeans, blood, and road rash. Nada pants are fine knee hurts like hell though.
So now I am thanking my lucky stars and drive like an old lady to my local watering hole and get off to inspect the damage, I figure there has to be something scrapped up. No nada bike is perfect except for the missing chicken strip all the way around the front tire and one spot on the rear.
Oh and the skid mark in my underwear did I mention that? Small patch of broken skin on the knee, no pictures of that though.
