Hey guys, just picked up my first superhawk and have a question about the fuel tank. My bike came with a tank off of something else and was poorly rigged on the bike. I was wondering where the best place to buy a stock tank is. I know the range is limited with them but I am ok with that. I have been reading as many threads as possible on here and look forward to working on the sh. Thanks for all the info.

Hey Matt, welcome on board! Do you know if the tank is from a VFR?
If it is, it should be an upgrade if it's done right! Ebay is the way to go, just make sure you have many close up pictures so you can see any dents and scratches.
Mean while see if you can rig the existing tank better.

Cheers

Not sure what the tank is from. I'll have to look for some markings. I thought about making some mounts for the existing tank but the bottom mount isn't even close. I'll take some pictures tomorrow to show you guys.

Judging by those images, it's a VFR 800 tank... So it's an upgrade in size... And it looks like it should be possible to re-do that crappy work and make it nice and tidy...

Basically, the front bolts should be back to "stock" lenght, making the front of the tank sit flush with the frame... Then have a new mount welded on the rear of the tank, and bolt it up (by someone that knows how to weld on a fuel tank, otherwise you could get hurt) And finish up by making the seat meet up nice...

+1
I'd keep it on there if possible. The only reason I haven't messed w/ my jetting is because I don't want to lose range. The tank will give you a bit more than the 100-130mile stock tank. I'm sure you could find someone to swap w/ if you didn't want it.

+1 It is from a VFR 800! also you can see if you will be able to make up a bracket for the rear mount without welding, whatever is easier, if you going to weld the tank, make sure it's got no fuel in it at all.

If you decide to swap it out let me know, I have a non standard red with yellow racing stripe the PO did that I would be happy to trade.
