40-45 mpg with conservative riding. 30-35 if I really wring it out. That's pretty typical. Unless your really beating the crap out of it I would think somethings amiss.
Welcome and happy riding. It's the best bike I've owned, but in all fairness it replaced a 88 Hurricane 600. Not to slight it, they are a hell of a lot of fun. It's the highlight of my workday.

Hi, Phil and welcome! The Superhawk is to gas mileage much like a dragster. Just chews it up. I was shocked and stuck (3.7 miles from fuel) in the first months of owning mine. Hasn't happened again because now when the red light comes on I find gas. My bike is jetted/geared/piped and I drive it like a Superhawk.
There's lots of great posts in the archives on this subject. One of my first observations of the forum is most of these riders are good at writing as well. After I joined I sat a the computer for months and did nothing but read and laugh my *** off! Some of this **** is the best stuff on the net. Some of the "lack of gas mileage" stories are hilarious.

Welcome to the asylum!
I get about 43 consistently, bike is mostly stock except for K&N air filter and shimmed carb needles. Obviously the harder you twist the wrist the less mpg and also jetting affects mileage - better flowing pipes requires a richer mixture.

Welcome, and as for the gas, I find if you change the oil every 2000 miles with the only oil that does any good in these bikes (Mobil 1 syn) then your fuel miles will increase a lot!! Could have to do with the octane you are using...I would start a whole new thread on that though...Octane is not discussed enough on here for the search to do you any good... Lots of good stuff on here, but watch out for the crazy folks...they will lead you down the wrong path...
