First off I posted a few days back about wanting to put GSXR mirrors on my chicken and got mixed reviews. After a few nights of fabricating I got the mirrors to a point where I am very happy with them.

Off topic w/out sending out a new thread, I am looking at buying an old Super Hawk CB77 as a 2nd/3rd bike but am curious if anyone has had/ridden this bike and could give me any helpful advice. I know it is only 305cc and is not the fastest bike in the world... I dont care about this.

Lastly, if the moderator reads this, I am curious about how happy you are with your bike collection. I am looking at either a 1000rr, 929, zx10, or gsxr1000 and am just curious if you are happy with the chicken and a literscreamer in your arsenal. Anyone else who can give any input would be appreciated. Might also look at a 6 or 750.

I'm very happy with the RR...er, both of 'em. Actually the 600RR is my wife's but she rarely rides it. I'll probably ride it more this year than last just to get some use out of it. Problem with that bike is I always find myself in the wrong gear. I'm so used to either the big RR or the VTR that the lack of torque on the 600 keeps me on my toes...and keeps my toes working the shifter!

My 04 1000RR has more power than I'll ever need for street or track. It's downright scary at the track actually and it is a better bike than I am a rider in that respect. As is typical with most Hondas, the 1000RR needs suspension work if you're heavier than 170#. The rear shock is okay for a stock unit, though it has a tad too much high speed compression for my tastes and is oversprung. The bike lacks a bit of character but it's very well mannered and has typical Honda build quality. The bike is heavier than the Superhawk by about 20-25# but has "mass centralization" which helps once moving. I don't ever think it will steer as well as the Superhawk either but I think I'm getting closer and closer with each mod. Stock brakes are great for the street but will destroy themselves at the track and overheat. Aftermarket pads help but my rotors were toast by the time I changed them so now I have Galfer waves and SS lines. Exhaust really isn't necessary and after coming off the RC51 with really LOUD exhaust I was happy to keep it stock for over a year. I tried an M4 slip-on which had nice sound but ran across a deal for a Moriwaki full system. Coincidentally I had rode a buddy's bike with the same exhaust a few weeks earlier and was very impressed. I have done lots of modifications to the bike just as I have the VTR. It's a passion and a curse at times. FWIW, the '06 has some pretty good changes and it lost like 9# and gained about 5hp. Different bodywork and minor suspension changes round up the differences between the two.

Stay Honda and you'll be happy. Though the other bikes aren't bad they are not without their problems. Suzuki won't survive a minor tipover. Kawi quality sucks, and the Yamaha has no torque and power is peaky. The Honda may not be the most powerful but it's a better street bike than any of the others.

What did you end up doing with the mirrors, make new mounts, or adapt to the Honda mounts like I did?

I can't quite tell from the pic, but it kinda looks like the factory mount.......

 

As for the CB77.... I had one for a year that never made it out fo my garage (needed alot of work).... one thing I could tell you is that it feels like sitting on a bicycle in comparison to the Hawk.... it's a tiny little bike... but still pretty cool.

I had a ZX-9 it threw a rod trough the crankcase at 200 km/h(125 mph) took fire from oil spitting from the crank to the red hot exhausts, locking the rear oily wheel...done with kawis

 

Yeah, after debating for a few hours I decided that cutting off the GSXR mounts and grinding the tubes to fit in the VTR mounts was the best way to go. This seemed to help overcome the difference in mount angles between the two bikes.

Anyone now what size resistor works well to slow the turn signal blinking rate down to a more normal pace after installing leds?

 

Stock bulbs are 23w. You'll need a resistor of that wattage, relatively low resistance. You're trying to emulate the bulb being there by using the resistor.

 

Hey powderun, I bought two electronic flashers ELFR-1 from Custom LED http://www.customled.com/PRODUCTS/FL...sher_relay.htm . I haven't tried mine yet, the second one I gave to a friend for his R6 to use with his custom undertail w/led's - it worked awsome. No problems with mixed led's and conventional bulbs.
