New guy sneaks in
Hi Everyone,
Well, after about ten years, I have a bike again. I’ve been saying to myself for a long time if I ever got another one, it would be a Superhawk. I went to look at one at a dealership that wasn’t much of a deal, and I didn't care for the salesman, so I walked. Took a look on Craig’s list and found a much nicer one that was also cheaper and closer to where I live. Kind of fell in my lap, as it were. I’ve been slowly going through it; there were a couple issues. The bike was running quite lean so I raised the needles and opened up the pilots a tad. There’s a Micron exhaust installed that was too loud for my ears. The packing had burned through in a couple spots so I repacked the cans with SS and added a baffle I welded up (I know, sacrilege ). Now the exhaust only sets off 5 car alarms on the commute instead of the dozen or so previously.
Next item on the list will be the forks. I’ve been reading a lot of the great posts here about re-springing and think I’ll go with Race Tech. Just the springs for now, valves later if needed. I wouldn’t consider myself a hard rider, I like the canyons well enough, but a putt along Pacific Coast Highway works too.
From what I’ve read, this looks like a nice place to exchange knowledge. I hope I’ll fit in.
P.S. I uploaded a photo in the gallery. I know it’s not the fastest color, but you take what you can get.

If you like sarcasm/humor mixed with very good info, you've come to the right place! Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride!
I once lived in an apt. in LA off the 110 (harbor freeway) at the tip of South Pasadena....now that I think back, I don't think I'd ride that freeway on a dare.

My bad on the breach (what movie was that?) I certainly wouldn’t drive from New Mexico to experience the 110 freeway. Now Decker canyon, that’s a different story. I think they may have paved the rest of it last week. (from Mulholland to PCH). I’ll have to check it out ASAP.

Thanks, I live in Santa Monica. I stay as safe as I can. Freeways out here are one big phone booth. I saw a guy on a Harley earlier this week in the left turn lane, holding a cell phone under his helmet. I was surprised he wasn’t holding a Starbuck’s in the other hand.
