Superhawk commitment
Ha! I'm first-with a 'till death do us part commitment, which has almost come true a bit too soon. Think I'll definitely get other bikes but I know the bike pretty well-I'd like to keep it. I keep going back to the ZX12 I had-best bike I've ever owned/ridden. Sick power, amazing brakes, the sound, the looks, the refinement. But I don't know besides the fact that it's not made here (unlike cars not really much choice here) my superhawk's just kinda "me."
I have owned my Girlfriend for 8 years, bought as a leftover in '99. I am looking forward to buying a new bike next season, but will never get rid of her. She has about 30,000 miles on her and was offered $6k for her 2 months ago. Couldn't do it. My next girlfriend is a Ducati 1098. Maybe my old girlfriend and new girlfriend will turn into lesbian lovers!!
I jokingly told a buddy of mine that when I die they can throw the Superhawk into the hole and then sprinkle my ashes on top of her. I'm not sure that will happen. I think my kid will be there to make sure the only thing in the hole is me!
I've only had mine for a short while, but love the torque, the sound and the fact that there aren't alot of SuperHawk's in my area. I may retire this girl, but will defenitely buy another. 'Til death do us part....
As a younger rider I will be selling my 750 and hawk hopefully this following spring and going I4 1000cc or perhaps BMW R1200GS and start touring more. I have no attachment to any bikes at this point and enjoy all each has to offer.
I enjoyed the hawk, but enjoy the others more....a 1000 will have more torque to make up for not having the hawk around and still have the scream. The wife however likes comfort, so we'll see what happens.

as much as I like the hawk, I don't expect to keep it forever, what with superdukes and hypermotards out there, and those just look like oodles of fun. And I can't really justify more than one bike in the garage.

I already had several 30-year-old bikes in the shed when I bought my SH new last year, and my XL1000V ditto this year. They were bought with the specific intention of hanging on to them for at least 30 years - by which time I will be 84.
(One of my old friends was still riding a race bike on the track in his early 90s, so don't scoff.)

Long time..not forever
How long I keep it will depend on how easy it is to modify...I never leave bikes as is..that's good and bad... Don't get crazy on me..I love the current handling..but sick and ancient mind is imagining how sweet this twin would work in a Jesse Rooke style chop...take a deep breath...that's what I'm thinking now...Other wise I'm to far from good roads (crooked) to ride it as is forever...
Has anybody ever seen something like that done with a Hawk...I'm thinking of working with stock frame, wheels, brakes...mostly cosmetic.. bars.. seat.. lowered a bit.. sure would mess with some cruisers..Sound is right.. power would be sweet..

I know there are better sport bikes and even better sport twins, but even if i had any other Aprilia, Ducati, Suzuki, or Honda sport twin i would still keep the Super Chicken.
I still have my 82CB750F SuperSport that i bought just out of High School, so i hope to keep her till death do us part.

This is very true, Nano! You only have so much time to ride per year. Your riding season is shorter than ours in Texas so for the smart money - buy the wife a gixxer. I have ridden and driven all over your state and there is no singular bike I would rather ride in SD other than a Superhawk. A tank of gas and an hour will get you almost any place in the state except total east west. Got some hills - got some (well ok maybe lotsa) flats - some towns worth cruising. Nothin' like corn-fed chicks!
I can't see any reason why I'll ever get rid of him. The hawk will probably last forever, being a Honda, and it will always be faster than I should be riding. The only thing negative about the hawk is the resale is not so great. So why sell it? We all love them, but we're a strange breed. We like things different.
I deffinitely want other bikes in the garage with it though. Maybe the Ducati 1098, the Hypermotard, and the multistrada to begin with
...oh and the triumph speed tripple and a Harley and a dirt bike or two and.....

Well, as much as I love my baby, I'm only in the infant stages of bike riding ... chances are I'll try out a few different ones, then decide which one I'll marry
But between the Kwakka ZR-750, Hornet 900 and Storm, the Storm is definitely the hottest babe around ... and puts the bigges grin on my face every time I ride her
Cheers & stay safe

I seen one on the internet about 3 years ago that was all chopped out useing the stock frame and wheels . They just slammed the *** and reworked the suspension and bodywork. Was cool as hell, even thought about doing it with my spare engine.
I love this bike, but there's other twins & triples I'd love to have also, if I had the budget for them.
Which brings up "bang-for-the-buck"; at about $4000 for Super Hawks with very low miles out there, this is probably the most affordable litre bike around.
I'd like to have an RC51, but it is definitely not an all-day-long rideable bike like the Super Hawk, so it's impractical for me from that point of view as an only bike.

I've only had my superhawk for 3 seasons but she and I have gone through more in that time than any bike I've had before. my first real crash, my current high speed, and I know its anatomy and character in more detail than any bike I've owned previously. like others have said; it just fits me now. maybe more because we didn't get along so well at first but we both went thru some changes and now, its the only bike that feels right. I'll never sell her. if she gets destroyed, fine. I'll get another. if not, she'll be the standard from which all future bikes will be judged. I'll get others. maybe many many others. but I'll never sell my girl. future bikes will include: daytona 675, 1098, and a st3, st4, a blackhawk, or a sprint st for touring. not sure which.
I'm not that emotional about it, even though I have lots of mods and time spent doing the mods. There are lots of other bikes I would like to have, but the Hawk is a nice balance. It's really too bad Honda turned their back on the concept of a streetable, sporty v-twin literbike, because with a few upgrades it would still be right in the mix.
