need some support from fellow hawks
a week ago i was pulled over in my home state of Massachusetts for lane sharing (whitelining, lane splitting, ect) during bumper to bumper traffic. after this i decided not to do it any more as the last thing i need is another ticket. yesterday, however, i was stucj in traffic and was startled by the sound of screeching tires behind me. when i looked to my side a nissan quest had stopped in a fog of tire smoke about two feet from me narrowly avoiding killing me and hitting the car infront of me. the woman then put down her cell phone (go figure!). i have decided to start an onine petition to leagalize the practice of lanesharing in massachusetts to avoid similar attempts on my life as well as those of our fellow riders. i humblely ask for your support. i hope this does not violate any forum rules but i felt this was a vital issue to those who ride. the link is below

The same thing happened to me over 20 years ago. Cars' bumper ended up even with my rear axle but an inch to the side of the muffler. No cell phone excuse back then, just HUA driver. Since then at a stop I try to watch my mirrors, don't line up with brake light of the car in front of me, and flash my brake light rapidly until I can tell I got the approaching drivers attention. I also ride in major urban areas as little as possible.
Good luck with your drive, you'll probably need some sort of accident stats to show a need.

If you sign this and are from another state like NY in my case does it count or must they be from Mass to count???

it does not matter where you are from you can sign it. the drive is for legislation in the state of massachusetts but, the more states that pass it the more that will follow along. thank you to those who have or will sign the petition. hawks rule (especially red ones)

Good job with the petition. I signed it and wrote a little blurb about my experience bieng stationed in San Diego, CA the past five years and having the luxury of lane splitting and then getting stationed here in MA now and living in terror when at stop lights.

signed, maybe NH as well will take care of things... especially older drivers. im fine with the dissing of non red because mine has a red heart and a black body... therefore its the faster ever

thanks to all. i have contacted other orginizations about helping out but if you guys are members of other forums please feel free to post this in there as well. the more states that change the law will have a profound effect on the others. lets get the ball rolling!

Thank you to everyone who has signed we are on our way (54/1000 sigs) but this has just been picked up and posted on Laneshare.org so hopefully that will help. again thank you to all red hawks and all others that secretly wish to be red! just kidding thanks to all.
