Need some help quick re: custom wheels

Due to work at the moment, I have VERY limited time to be on a computer, so I can't spend my time searching. I appologize now for not searching myself.

There is a fantastic deal on a couple RC Customs wheels. According to the seller, the rear wheel was made for the RC51, but he's not sure if it's the SP1 or SP2. The front wheel is for a '98-'01 Yamaha R1.

I'm swapping to a '07 CBR1000RR front end. Will the R1 wheel fit the CBR1000RR forks? They both have radial calipers, so I'm hoping I can make it work.

Will the rear RC51 wheel fit the Superhawk? Or do I need to swap to a SP2 swingarm sooner than I thought?

Thanks guys. If getting them to fit is just a matter of a little fab work, then that's fine with me.

An RC rear wheel won't fit the standard swinger. I think if you use custom spacers plus some fab work on the wheel it will work. People have done it although I don't know what exactly needs to be done.

Can't comment on the CBR/R1 front wheel though. IIRC it will swap but I'm not positive

I've seen people use them on the hawk. But with custom spacers and some milling on the hub

I'll make 'em fit

Purchased both RC Custom wheels for the price of one six spoke front wheel I was looking at.

Going to paint or powder coat (unsure at the moment) the rim matte black and the inside the same matte electric blue as the bike or vise versa. Should look sweet! They look to be a real bitch to clean though.

Can you work out if that rear is SP1 or SP2 ?

Hope you post up pics & measurements of what it takes to make them work.

I sure can. It will be a week or two before I get around to it.

These wheels are a lot lighter than I expected. At first, I just wanted these RC Custom wheels, because I absolutely despise three spoke motorcycle wheels. Everyone has them on thier bike. But hey, if they are lighter than the stock wheels, then all the better! I'll take everything off and weigh the bare wheels to see if these are indeed lighter than the stock wheels.

Before you mount tires on those rims add a good coat of wax to the inside of the spokes to make it easier and faster to clean the grime and bugs out from in between the spokes on those pretty wheels!

That's exactly what I am doing right now haha
I'm putting several coats of wax on the inside. I know that I'll be getting rid of the chrome, but just wanted to see what they would look like all shined up nice.

I'll get some weights on these right after the cleaning.

Oh, and these are RC Component wheels. Not RC Custom wheels, like I mentioned earlier.

Haha!

Just weighed the new twins:
Name: Lil' Front
Weight: 10 pounds 0 ounces*
Size: 17x3.5 inches

Name:Big 'n Rear
Weight: 15 pounds 0 ounces*
Size: 17x6 inches

*Weight was taken with a bathroom scale which is pretty accurate with a doctors office scale. Your weights may vary.

These look to be quite easy to fit the Superhawk. There are adapters that bolt to the side of each wheel which locate the sprocket and brake discs. Looks like worst case scenerio, I order new adapters and viola! New wheels fitted.

EDIT: They are non ferrous, so I'm assuming these wheels are aluminum or possibly...magnesium?

Wow, you are gonna handle like a moto3 bike now. That should be a hugely noticeable weight loss/ mass centralization.

Post you results.

Me post results? What my wheels weigh (I did in post #11)? Or, fitment?

It's nice to see that there will be a weight loss. Thanks for posting those weights! Makes me start thinking what a lightened flywheel and a 520 chain would be like along with these wheels

I will work on the front first. I still have all next week free, so I have plenty of time to figure this out. I found an awesome place that deals only with bearings that's ~20 minutes drive from me, so bearings shouldn't be to big an issue. Spacers on the other hand will be a pain in the butt. I don't have a friend with a metal lathe and every machine shop around here wants a crap load of money for a tiny amount of work, or since the project is so small, some won't even touch it, because it is not worth thier time. I'll figure something out though. I always do.

Dont know about Brooksfield but most towns have a really cruddy part of town with junkyards and the like. If you slink around there your bound to find a hole in the wall machine shop.

Ask the junkyard guys or auto shops who they use. The dirtier the better.

Unfortunately, Brookfield has nothing of the like. Sort of a "upper class" city. A lot of douche bags and really stupid chicks with giant fake racks driving thier overpriced imports. Sorry, some people around here kind of get to me.

Milwaukee has a few junkyards. There is also a motorcycle bone yard, excuse me, Motorcycle Recycle Center in Milwaukee that I have been wanting to check out for a while now. I'll let ya know what happens. Thanks for the idea man.
