Man down
Glad you are mostly ok. Broken ribs will hurt for a long while sadly. I hav broken 5.
Here is another reinforcement of my statement that riding in groups hugely increases your chance of a crash. I will stick to nice, safe racing.

Feel for you - Got a bruised spleen in a cricket match many moons ago. Took a catch immediately after eating tea (only game that goes on so long it has timetabled meal breaks) and when I landed my elbow went into my full tum. Definitely felt odd and I got shipped to hospital only to have a painkilling injection. Soon returned to join with team and promptly collapsed, so had to shipped back to hospital to find my blood engorged spleen had taken more of a battering than initially assessed.
Take it easy and hope you're back on road again soon.

Dont think negative. With enough awareness and prudence, you can go tens of thousands of miles without crashing. 99% (or more) of crashes are rider error.
If you dont treat the bike like a car you are safer. NEVER take your mind off the task. Dont sightsee, alway focus on your threats, leave yourself an out, assume they dont see you. When in doubt, use your horn. Annoying is better than broken any day.
I cant describe how many times per mile I am under threat where I ride, but if you focus, you can be safe.
Its when you lose respect for what you are doing that you are most at risk. Bikes may be fun, but they arent toys. Treat it like a loaded gun, in many ways, it is.

Hi all.. not much to update, not back at work yet, ribs still healing and sleeping is still a pain. had a buddie test my hawk around the block and it seems mechanicaly everything is still good! it's all cosmetic that needs repair. so part out or keep.. I"m always on the fence with that question as the bike has 77K Kilometers on it. my buddie wants a bunch of little parts off it for his VTR offered me $500 for a just a few little things.. I think I could easily part the rest of it out for $1000 so I decided to move on.. I offered him the bike for $1250 as is.. hasn't got back to me yet..
On MOVING ON! I already have my new horse in the stable! in the past I kept taking sport touring bikes and tried to upgrade this and that to make it more sporty. I'm going the other way this time. supersport! and I'll try to make it more touring!
So here's a pic of the new ride
2005 ZX10r
Labeled as the widow-maker, it's 164.8HP @ rear wheel, and I weighed it at 417lbs Full tank of gas!

Sexy! Everyone and their grandma rides transverse 4's with sick upside down forks, braced swingarm and cool rims. Its cliche. That stuff has to go! Swap in a 996 V-Twin with...wait...for...it....a right side up fork and flexible flier swing arm. You want to be cool, don't you? Will?
