Man down
As some of you know I came down to ride the Dragon in North Carolina. It's been an adventure. We joined the katana riders group for there annual rally. Great group of people. So we road the dragon on Sunday. Fun road but lots of traffic being a weekend though. . Monday we were going to check out a waterfall but didn't make it to the trail head. One guy passed a truck I was wot(wide open throttle) behind him and another guy behind me. Well lead rider decided not to pass and hit the brakes. I made it by him, just barley but the 3rd bike slammed into him = air lifted to the hospital on the bright side he was ok and released from the hospital 6 hours latter. So Tuesday we were doing a photo shoot and I was warming up. Doing a
switchback. And I LOST IT!! Air lifted to the hospital 3 broken ribs punctured spleen and punctured lung. They let me out of the hospital today. I'm told the first rider duck taped his bike back together and was riding today. Trooper! I am not as lucky. But healing up.

Man that sucks, Caffeine! Glad you're okay and it wasn't any worse than it already was. Hard to tell by your pic how bad your bike is but it doesn't look completely destroyed or anything, and more importantly you're ok enough to get out of the hospital today.

Caffeine j/k heal up man
Any moto accident U can live thru is a good thing.
FYI - I'm on injured reserve too - another leg operation (cage accident)
Sadly, I won't be riding probably until Oct. - Thank God for heated gear.
And my moto is sitting lonely in my garage with new shoes & a new license plate frame

Wow, yes y'all. Heal up quick, and those of you still riding, be safe. The street is not a clean racetrack. I've watched some of the u-tube videos of crashing riders in tight corners. Some of them look like they were riding on ice. No telling what's been spilled there.
Always leave yourself some extra traction, or you may end up in it...traction, lol.

I grew up on the dragon. I've seen it take my bikes, and a few lives. It's a lot of fun, but ride within your experience level. Don't be stupid. 318 turns in 11 miles. Lots of semi trucks, tourists in cars, novices on bikes. Be Careful. You can always go faster on it tomorrow.

Glad everyone was able to walk away from the wrecks, they aren't fun. We had a guy loose it at 130+ through a turn last night, we all thought there was no way he would make it, bike is totaled broke the snout of the frame clean off the bike, he got out of it with a broken femur (compound fracture), and one small spot of rash. They say bad things come in 3's so I hope that's the end of it for a while. Hope you have a speedy recovery and are able to get back in the saddle soon.

Wolverine: I can't speak for jerry but I won't be able to make it monday/tuesday although I'd love to. I had such a good time riding today that I wanna go again but I know because of work I couldn't go then. Maybe some other time.

Hey Caffeine, glade to see you're going to pull out of this one just fine.
Many do not have this chance. I love to have a chance and ride that road
some day, but, as previously mentionned, it's a risky one.
Too bad you're two hours away, your bike has become a great winter project. If ever in the greater MTL area, shoot a message. maybe we can
ride....
Get well soon.

I ride the dragon often, i live like 45 min from it. I enjoy it but the traffic aspect does kinda suck... but out of all the bikes ive taken there the hawk has been my fav. the torque range is soo nice, its nice to not have to shift on every curve.

It was an AWESOME ride, I really enjoyed it, thanks for taking me.

It was my fault. I Was trying to move from the right side of the bike to the left side of the bike in a hurry and I pulled on the bars. At the same time the front wheel Hit a dip in the pavement. Handlebar hit the tank. Front end gained traction and slammed me into the ground. Yes it was very wrong of me to pull on the handlebars to get over. But I can't help thinking if I would've put a steering damper on that thing it might've saved me.

I'm very glad you're OK although it may be a while before you can cough or laugh without discomfort. It's embarrassing to crash and annoying to be put to the expense of fixing a crashed bike.
Would you be willing to post something about the insurance you had to cover your medical costs? I ride in the U.S.A. fairly frequently and I'm sure that I'd benefit by any advice you'd like to give.
