love the hawk.
well i can say that after rideing the hawk now some 5,000 miles im compleatly aww struck. this bike can handle anything the roads or i can throw at it and just yawn. also this bike makes me look alot better in the twisties than i am. i have ran the bike in all sorts of company and just love the fact that i dont have to crank on the throttle to keep up. witch is a feat in its self i can actually keep up! after a really nice ride today280 miles i have very little fatigue and could have rode another 300. this has to be one of the most underated bikes ever.i just want to say im proud to be a super hawk owner rider.

Know what you mean, this bike just gets under your skin. Have owned several I4's, but after having the Hawk for the last 8yrs., don't think I'll ever be able to go back to I4's. Took a ride today up in the Hill country, stopped to get a bottle of water. Several Harley riders @ the store, suprised when I removed my helmet (older guy with no hair). They asked me how & the hell I could ride something like that (Hawk). So I told em, I just throw my leg over the seat just like you guys, turn the key, twist the throttle & go like hell! Some people just don't get it, different strokes for different folks.

I have a 98 too and a lot of the guys I know who have I4s give me hell for getting a v twin, but I always show them up in the twisties. I love my bike, its awesome. oh and the sound of a twin..... like heaven.

Twins are much narrower than I4 bikes, good for cornering. thus making it a great racing platform.
The stock pegs will drag the ground though, so rearsets are the way to go before seriously racing it.
The Shawk is narrower than most 600s.

My 23 year old head chef rides a new gsxr 600 with mods galore. He smirked when last year he saw me roll off my used ('98 SH with 4500 miles have you, that I payed $2500 for) Well he borrowed it today to run home for something. He walked in and said, " I'm buying a duc!" "I gotta have a big L twin", "There's something about that torque and rumble that I gotta have". He's growing up!
