Introduction
Hi everyone! Longtime lurker first time writer. I am now the proud owner of a 98 Shawk that I purchased for $1400. It only has 14k miles on it so plenty of life left in the ole bird. I plan on asking a lot of questions and doing a lot of stuff to the bike. At the moment the only mod is a Stage 3 Jet, but that will be added on to as soon as possible. Ill post pics and all that jazz ASAP. Oh, and Im in Eastern NC if anyone wants to ride.

So far the suspension isn't bothering me all that much. My plans for starters (and by starters I mean once I have the cash) are to get the bike de-badged and painted gloss black (its just my thing) after that I'm going for an undertail and a rear tire hugger. After the superficial stuff is handled Ill look into a black aftermarket exhaust as well as suspension and other such things.
As it stands now Im just happy to be back in the saddle. My last bike (Customized Suzuki Marauder 800) got backed over in a parking lot about 3 years ago and my college student wallet couldn't get fat enough to get a new one. I knew I wanted a liter v-twin sportbike and the superhawk was on my list of 3 acceptable bikes (along with RC51 and a SV1000). That this one was so cheap was the icing on the cake. I had to put new tires on her to get her inspected so once the slickness is done I plan on riding as often as possible.

Welcome. Sound like you got a good deal for your bike. Use the search function to find the answers to most of your questions and see the fixes and mods that others have done to their bikes. This will save you time and yeild great results for your upgrades.
With $1400 as your investment now, you could have a great bike for under $3000 if you choose to do what others here have already done. Good luck!

welcome aboard camel! Check everything out and make sure it's safe, get some riding in to learn what you have purchased, and over time you can determine what defiencies to address first. Save them for winter if you can. hahaha
