interesting math calculation
The poll on "total miles" got me to thinking.
First, I was careful not to hurt myself in doing so
Next, I thought...... So about how many total engine revolutions does that make ????
At 60 MPH, the RPM = revs/mile and revs/min.
Using that as a starting point, I made a WAG that over time, I'd average about 5000 +/- Revs/Mile. Thats an average, but I'd bet my actual average is probably higher. But whatever.....
So using 32,000 miles and 5000 rev/mile I get 160,000,000 revolutions.
Using 5500 rev/mile -> 176,000,000.
So, I think it's safe to guess 160 million to 170 million revolutions.
Just for grins....
50,000 miles @ 5000 rpm = 250,000,000 revs.
That's a bunch of turns. Says a lot about the quality of today's design and manufacture.
