I just weighed my bike...
407 lbs with a full tank of gas.
So, engine oil is close to one gallon, (7 lbs), I'm not sure about coolant since I don't have one of the radiators... Does a gallon sound reasonable? (I'll say 5 lbs) and 4.2 gallons of gas (25 lbs) brings it down to 370lbs dry, which is about 5 lbs less than a brand new gsxr1000. Since the dry weight stock is 423, that means I lost 53 pounds!
So with my +2 in the rear gearing, shift kit, ignition advancer, jet kit, k&n filter and a sizable weight loss, I think I'm gonna do ok at the track... I just need to finish making a chain guard (needed at the track) and find another snell sticker for my helmet (painted over) and I'm good to go.
I'm stoked to see how I do, especially after I SPANKED a 2003 r6 and a 2000 gsxr 600 yesterday. They were a bit surprised.

It's a labor of love... lol It actually isn't all that bad. You have to watch first gear, and when you shift hard into second or third, but other than that it's totally manageable. I am buying a 15t countersprocket though, and that might make it a bit lighter in the front end...

The "dry weight" you see promoted by the manufacturers (423 lbs. for the VTR) is not just minus fuel. It's also minus oil, coolant and the BATTERY.
Per Sportrider mag a stock VTR is 477 lbs. with a full tank and 452 tank empty.
The weights some of you guys are reporting are down in Ti and cf laden MotoGP bike territory.
What does it weigh when you cut loose all those helium balloons you got tied to the tail piece? Just kiddin', but those weights sound pretty low.

yeah a giant steel subframe, passenger seat, passenger pegs, two giant exhaust pipes, fairings, headlights, gauges, one of the radiators and other bits and bobs weighs a lot man. You have a lot of useless crap on your bike. Trucks bike has none of those things either, and that's why ours weigh so much less than yours. And we are not exaggerating in the slightest. See the difference?

Yeah I'm trying to have some fun, not calling BS.
Like I mentioned, the "dry weight" is without the battery. Going by the wet weight (477) you pulled off 70 lbs., not 53. That's pretty impressive. Curious to see what you'd do at the track 'cause -70 lbs. weight is the equal of +10 horse power.

My bike is apart and when I move it around it just feels wonderful, the stock cans where plain huge chunks of steel, the rear tail section is pretty light, the tank is heavy and placed high, this is a good place to shed weight, then there's the rads with all the hoses filled with water, I might do a street fighter conversion with a single rad, I shortened the front header to make room for a front mounted rad.
A 520 chain, steel/al combo sprocket, lighter flywheel
Maybe a lighter battery or a kickstarter The weight of the right leg muscle may offset the weight gains after a month
Then cutting those huge crank counterweight with a blowtorch...maybe not
