I just found this list!
Hello all, I was on the runlevelzero superhawk list up until it died, and wasn't sure if there was another one available...well, I ran across this one (yahoo!)
I'm now a member, and will participate when I have something useful to contribute.
My VTR is a 1998 model with the following modifications:
1) Mario Nava upper, lower, seat, and CF front fender.
2) VFR800 Single-sided swingarm & wheel conversion (by me)
3) Custom 2 into 1 left-exit exhaust with Jardine canister
4) Shock-Design tank bag/backpack
5) Under-tail (Euro-designs)
6) VFR750 clip-ons
7) Speed-shifter modification (eliminates 1-2 "clunk")
8) Lockhart Euro smoke screen
9) Removed front mirror condoms
10) Dropped & re-hydraulic'ed front end
11) Polished fork lowers (looks like USD from a distance!)
Yeah, the bike's pretty cool IMHO...
I'll post some pics for those that have not seen her. (next week, eh?)
Cheers,
Brian Light

Re: I just found this list!
Hello, I just got back into town and will pick out a few pics to post in the gallery.
I came up with the shifter modification because I hated the shifter throw and 1-2 CLUNK. It's hard to shift the VTR into second gear without a nasty clank unless you're good.
The question about the speed-shifter (short-throw?) modification...here's how: If you change the angle of the linkage on the splined transmission gear-selector shaft relative to the foot-shifter from roughly parallel to about 30 deg, you can achieve a higher leverage ratio on the shifter input shaft.
In other words, your foot moves a little less than before, and the shifter link moves quicker for a given foot movement, resulting in a quick and silent 1-2 upshift. Input effort increases ever so slightly. Certainly a big improvement IMHO. Try it...it costs you nothing. You can experiment with whatever angle of attack you like. (I you go 90 deg...the shifter won't shift at all, so don't overdo it!!)
Of course, you will need to re-adjust the turnbuckle that ties the 2 linkage arms together to acheive the preferred shifter to toe-level.
Cheers,
BKL
