Got my 02' with 18k in June 2012, currently June 2013 and it just tripped 28k. 10,000 mile year = maintenance. Wasn't too bad though, running strong

 

'98 with 22,300 on it. Got it in May of '11 when it had 15,500.

 

Less than 10,000 miles. I got it with about 9,500 not long ago. Been fixing the little things on it. Running great.

22k on my 2001…you guys with the super high miles like over 50k..do you feel your bike still has a lot of life in it? I have a friend who wants to sell me his "beater" Superhawk that has 70k miles on it, cheap. thought it might be cool to have one I don't care about to thrash on since mine is pristine, but…damn that's a lot of miles…

 

Miles are subjective as evidenced by some of the bikes on here.

Maintenance is the important thing in relation to miles.

70,000 miles wouldn't scare me.

 

Exactly. I've rebuilt Evo Harleys with over a hundred thousand on them, and they are no where near the build quality of the Vtr. I've got almost 50000 on mine now, still pulls like a sumb*tch. I've changed two valve shims in that distance, and that's only because of me being finicky when it comes to the state of tune. About the only weak point for normal street use is the cam tensioner design, which I've changed oodles of them in other brands as well.

 

This is what I thought, just wanted to ask some of you with experience with high milage Superhawks. I have an opportunity to get a great deal on one with 70k, haven't seen or ridden the bike yet but will soon. They guy says the battery wasn't charging, so need battery or something else with the charging system...
