How fast have you taken your bird?

Stock gearing showed an indicated 145 ish (didn't devote a good long look at the speedo). Felt more like the high 130s to me. My FZ1 gives a very smooth 135 - 140 and that's about what 145 felt like on the Superchicken. The real thrill for me is grabbing a deep hand full of throttle in third gear on a corner exit with the Superchicken. You can just about feel each cylinder pulling you harder along as you go past 7K on the tach. That's what makes the VTR give me a really big smile.

I can only imagine I did 240-250km/h. At those speeds, it's not the time to look at the gauges. You better be holding on to the grips, and looking ahead, cause the scenery is going by real fast.
Never know when Miss Daisy will pop out in front of you at 30, and since in her mind, there's no one else on the road... your eyes are much better off the gauges, and on the road ahead. Just saying.

N.O.S. thread huh? What happened with this guy BenX? Four years, one post, then nothing? Hope he's alright.
I have seen 150 with +2 on the rear sprocket. My trick is to look down at the speedo and back up before i can even see it, then as my focus is coming back to the road the image of the speedometer flashes by. I cant see the numbers anyway,I just figured out where what numbers are and go by the needle. Gets my eyes back to the road quicker.
Or if I have the gopro on I just look at it later.

Once saw 145-150 on the speedo, so like umm.... less than that.
Still had some pull left in it and wasn't at all unsettled, just decided to not push my luck with the law.
I usually call it around 115-120 - above that it doesn't really do a whole lot.
I bought the bike because of it's 30-110 range anyways - had a ZX-11 before this and got bored that I needed to clear 100 to START having fun.

I think the real indicator of the value of a SuperHawk for me is effortlessly passing cars and semi's uphill in the mountains west of Denver at altitudes up to 12,000ft. Top speed is for the track anyway and those who aspire to be a pink mist are free to pursue that dream. But I am satisfied with hefty mid range torque.

The absolute fastest I will go is 75. But for real that's a joke. I have serious need for speed. With stock gears I topped mine out at an indicated 160ish. But who knows how accurate the OEM gauge is. The cool thing is at that speed the shaking stops and everything gets really smooth and quiet. Cool feeling. 3x

Ya I'm typically scanning for cops and bit rig's lost alligators in the road. But one night I was quickly approaching a car that suddenly changed lanes and much to my surprise and brick of **** in my pants was a bed mattress in the freeway that was already hit by another car. So it was basically standing half way up and I'm sure I would've been a donor if I hit. Never know what's in front of everyone else. Thats why I typically ride close to the dotted line.

It's hooked into one of the connectors in the wiring harness at the bundle behind the tank, using a pass through configuration, and then you hide the box somewhere in the tail...

Ok so the stock speedometer is gonna read an accurate speed from a hidden device? Ok makes sense. Which control/harness kit is needed?

Look lower on the page, and the application chart tells you which one matches the VTR...

The harness is specific, but the "brain" is universal, for both the SpeedoHealer, and for this one... The only difference is that on this, the harness isn't easily detatchable, so swapping bikes will require you to swap out the plugs for others by cutting and crimping on new... Not really complicated work, just tedious...
