Helmet lock for VTR! pics
well, i had CBR's in the past, and thats about the only thing i miss from them, was the easily accessible helmet lock built into the rear pegs. anyways, i dont wanna remove my seat to hook my helmet up and dont trust laying it around. check out this link on ebay...

it says it could hook on any tube frame within size requirements... can anyone think of a place to put it on the VTR ? our frames are not really circular but maybe you could think of some type of padding to put on this to not crimp the frame seeing how the mount is round? i dunno, i would love to have it though. :P

Re: Helmet lock for VTR! pics
I used one just like that on my old VF700F which has square tubes (although they're steel and about the size of round tubes). I think that although it works it would be better to take the stock style lock, for instance the on that was originally on this bike was built into a bar I removed when I changed out the turn signals, and build a custom aluminium plate to hold it. I know that would be a bit of work, but I just don't trust that little lock that much, and when you have several hundred dollars tied up in your brain pan what's a little hand laid machining? on the upside the lock comes with one way screws, so if you could use the stock screws it would be hard for someone to remove them. The problem I ran into was that the stock length screws were too short when using the square tubing.
Re: Helmet lock for VTR! pics
hmmm, i got high mounts and kept the rear pegs... might be funky to mount it. i dont care too much about it getting stolen, im not in the ghetto, i just want convenience firstly and piece of mind... well, as much as this things gonna give me 8) just tryin to think of a place.
Re: Helmet lock for VTR! pics
Both of my Harley buddies have them on their bikes and on mounted that on the front peg mount and the other mounted on the lest passenger peg. Its a great thing to have. Not too sure where you can mount in though.... Something to think about.
Re: Helmet lock for VTR! pics
As of this year, I've been locking my helmet with Master Locks new retractable cable lock, which used a 3 digit code (no key). I will also use this cable lock at the races to lock helmets and jackets to a fixed object...which WAS always a challenge. For $20 (shipped), I really love this new locking device.

I bought this only two months ago...and I'm having a hard time finding them now!!! But here's two web sites...

Kryptonite makes two versions (3 and 4 digit) like Masterlock too.

Re: Helmet lock for VTR! pics
I had the same concern about carriing a lock in my pocket. But once I saw this retracable lock, I knew it would work great. And it does. I dont even know its in my pocket because it so small. And my jackets are a firm fit. The lock is only 1/2" thick and 1.5w x 2"h.
Its so small, just this weekend I rode with it in my jeans front pocket, and again...never noticed it.
I'm not saying this is for everyone or that its the end all for Superhawk owners to lock their helmet. But for $10-20 and no mods needed to the bike...I swear by this little lock. Dont knock it till you try it!
