Kuryakyn License Plate Helmet Lock with Mount (4248) $24.99 Available Summer 2006

I bought a red 1998 Superhawk with very few miles recently. I love it so far. I have not made a long trip yet, but I'll fix that soon enough. The few minor annoyances I have with the bike are tank capacity, fuel economy, low windscreen that allows small debis to pelt my face, and a lack of an easliy accessible helmet lock. I did some searching on the internet for helmet locks and discovered the following item. So far, this one looks the most promising to me.

If anyone can see any disadvantages, please let me know.
Thanks.

In addition to the exhaust heat melting styrofoam in the helmet (which melts REALLY easy) I would think that SH's plastic fender/plate holder is way to flimsy to support the weight of a helmet. Also those type of helmet locks hold the helmet by the strap. Around my area theives just cut the strap and sew on another. I would suggest you dish out $10 for a cable type helmet lock and lock the helmet to your rear wheel. Theft deterrent for the helmet as well as your bike.

Rats! I saw the title on this thread and Jamie's name and thought he was making the plate/helmet combo.
