Gas Light comes on at 80 miles!??
i get 120-135 on average right now but i am just trying to tweak it to get a little more.. i too give it hell once and a while but for the most part it is my daily driver to and from work and that is it.
i just synced my carbs two weeks ago to check them and it was spot on. i have not gotten into my valves yet, i am going to rip the engien out of the bike next month and go ove rthe valves and change the clutch out. once it is back together i will sync the carbs again. since i stil have a ratttle durring a load i am thinking of just doing this for prevent maint. that and my clutch has a bit of a vibe to it.
yes talking about this stopped me from spending un-needed money on something i dont need, so thank you guys for setting me straight on that.

I don't want to sound like a jerk here, but I keep reading about the gas mileage you guys get and I'm shocked. I'm not hard on the throttle by any means on average(i usually shift at 3500), but I do give it **** every now and then. And I regularly get anywhere from 120-140 miles per tank
i have a 60 mile round trip to work and back.... about 40 of it is freeway 55-70 MPH and the rest is 45-55 MPH
on the freeway i hit 4000-4300 RPM i want to drop that down to about 3500- 3800 on the freeway

That sounds reasonable. I tend to ride lower in the RPM's as well (probably too low for the sportier riders here)
You can play with your gearing here:
Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator
Just put in the bike info, and play with the final drive ratio- it uses the teeth count of front and rear gears
