Fun With A Belt Sander
Fun With A Belt Sander
New twist on a tire thread.
Anyone ever go at a rear tire (with still a lot of tread) with a belt sander to re-profile the tire? That is to attempt to lessen the flat center.

Racing at No Problem Raceway in Louisiana...had some cold shear on the rear tire. Put the bike, an FZR1000 on the rear stand...used a concrete block to "shave" the right side shear down..Yes, we were poor, and determined.
The deed is done. Tested yesterday 1hr and today 2 1/2hr ride.
Seems to have greatly reduced the somewhat exaggerated tip in that was beginning to develop. Better, but I think I can do a little bette. May have another go with the sander.
Tires have 4900 miles, and this feeling started at about this point. Somewhat disappointed in how the handling has change on these tires at this mileage, especially considering the price. I don't remember the Pirelli Angel GT doing this at the same mileage. My have and I don't recall.
As it has been said before, the Superhawk is hard on the rear tire.
