Front tire fails? Pilot Road
I need somebody to tell me what is going on my front tire. (See pic)
this is my first set of Pilot Road, but I have never seen this kind of deformation on any tire I have used on other bikes, Metzeler, Dunlop, Bridgestone, etc.
I was feeling strange reaction under braking, kind of rear is usually kick toward left.. I found this deform? on front tire. bike runs ok if I don't push it on twisties. Even freeway, not much vibration or anything obvious even over 120~140mph This tire has about 4000miles.

Maybe not clear pic....
It is not flat spot by using center of the tire.
by touch, it is peak (about 1 inch with x 10inch length) not all around.
Just one spot...
I check tire pressure very often and ride F36/R42 on hwy and F34/R32 on twisties.
I just want to know it is tire or my frame, fork, etc causing?
Thanks

my pilot powers wore like that in the front flat spots/ deformations in the center of tire all the way around. must be the way they ply them. do you wheelie. maybe it could be the spot the tire lands on everytime you come down haha... would be like a 1 in a million shot everytime haha.

I just replaced an oem Metzeler Z4 on my wife's SV650 that looked like that (8800mi). I noticed it before we bought the bike this summer. After riding it home from the sellers house, there were LOTS of long sweeping turns in his area. I just figured it was wear from constantly driving those turn at the same speed/ lean angle. It made the bike hanlde like total ****. It took much steering input to get it off that flat spot if I needed more lean angle. We have since replaced it w/ a new one and the bike handles like a dream. Don't wait to get a new one, you'll be blown away after feeling the difference.

The pilot road was not a stellar tire, and that wear is pretty typical of them. If you bought the tire from a reputable local dealer, they can probably get michelin to replace it with a pilot road 2 which rectified the problems with funny wear. If the tire was bought online it is harder to get warrantied.
