Michelin Pilot Roads vs. Continental Road Attack

I have narrowed my tire search between the Michelin Pilot Roads and Continental Road Attacks. Both seem like good highway tires with a little sportiness. Any suggestions?

The last time that I needed a full set of tires I put on the pilot roads and the only complaint that I have is that they seem to have quite a bit of road noise. I got about 8,000 miles out of the rear and then switched to the road attack. I now have about 4,000 miles on it and am very pleased with it all the way around. I'm just waiting for the pilot front to wear out so I can put a road attack on there.

Pilot Road 2's are supposed to be good. I switched from Road Attacks to Pilot Power CT2's, and they are tha shizznit. The Road attacks were good **** though, and i dont have any complaints. All in all, I can't really tell the difference unless the tire is really shitty or really good...

FWIW, Cycle Gear has Dunlop D220s on closeout/sale for $100 rear and $80 front. I'm getting mine tomorrow.

Great price for 220s.

My only complaint with them was the rear wore out really fast... I think I only got like 4,000 mi. out of the rear iirc. (I'll have to check my logbook.)

Got 8,000 out of the BT021 rear, which I think is good on the torquey Super Hawk.

Got Diablo Super Sports on now. Guess I'm a tire *****, 'cuz I never get the same tire twice in a row.

Want to try the Road Attacks and the Road 2s.

Yeah, I've heard guys say their D220 was used up in 4k miles, and I've heard others brag about going 8-10k on them. I was planning on going with the Metzeler Z6 but for $60 cheaper, I couldn't pass up the Dunlop. We'll see how it holds up.

Checked the logbook... it was 4500. Got 5600 on the D208ZR... go figure?

220s are still a fine tire & at that price your $/mile is plenty decent too.

L8RGYZ;

I think you're right about the miles per $. I get good mileage on rear tires anyhow. I put over 8k miles on the stock D204. Maybe 'cause I keep them at or near max pressure, maybe 'cause I weigh about 148 lbs. soaking wet.

4500 is pretty low for an ST tire. I read on some other boards that Dunlop discontinued the 220 'cause it got a rep for wearing out too soon, but if I get anything close to what I got out of the OEM tire, I'll be happy.

I've got a little over 2K on my Road Attack rear and it's showing signifigant wear (60%). It does have excellent grip. I just put a Metzeler Z6 on the front, but haven't ridden on it yet. I'm switching because I can't afford a new rear every 3-4K and others on the forum see 6K + on the Z6 rear.

I have had the roads for my last two sets. I got about 6k on my last rear but found out that the more you twist, the more it wears. If i beat it for a 100miles, i could tell the difference in wear when I looked at it. If I road a long distance trip, even if at 90mph, it hardly wore.
