Front running lights make difference

So I did the thing where you use diodes to turn led lights with 2 wires into running lights. I am amazed at the respect I get from cars when I lanesplit at night! They part like the red sea. Very nice. Pretty visible having 2 turn signals too

Am I halfway to becoming a goldwinger?

Must be nice. It's not legal where I live, but every time I vacation to a place it is, I think how awesome it would be...

I may be interested but not without a significantly more detailed technical description with better photos and parts inventory...

Here's where I got the idea. I have Lockhart Phillips turn 6 led turn signals and pep boys flexible led strips on the mirrors. Looks bitchin' and I think even NY pedestrians check up enuff that I only run over thier foot.

Clever cure. So you just amped up his fix with extra LEDs. I like it. I used to run an 85W/100W headlight when I had to do a lot of night riding communting to work. It wasn't legal either, but I always figured I'd rather be alive with a moving violation citation or two, than dead with a clean driving record...

No the legal response was to the lane-splitting comment from wolverine. The lights are legal. And both top & bottom blink so much fewer "misunderstandings" about my intentions.

haha, you wouldn't run over a peds foot or u might be tearing off those nice mirrors.

Got some questions.

I guess the diodes are just for LEDs and you wouldn't need these to merely convert to flushmounts? LEDs use less juice? how do you know diode and resister size to control flash speed?

The diodes are to convert 3 wires to 2 without the current going in the wrong direction. this way its constant on & blinks for turn. The flashing mechanism is totally seperate. I did have to get a special flasher to not rapid flash them. Those are cheap.

You would use this same setup if you are using flushmounts with 2 wires.

So you have running lights that blink off when turning like oem. Where is the advantage with this? maybe cheaper for the 2 wire?

If you go to slicker-looking aftermarket led lights they all have only 2 wires so this is how to restore the orig running light setup. Otherwise you have slick leds that only blink (which is what I had for years)

thanx. I def don't want to lose the running lights and this seems easy enough. Apersheate it.

Ha, peds foot, I remember these from the time I was living in NYC years back
You can still run them, but you have to be leaning into a turn
If you think NYC is bad, try Thailand or India... No rules are the rules!

I like this setup especially the mirrors. did you hide the wires or they just run down the mirror stem??? Maybe you can provide day light pictures so we can see better?

I did try to hide the wires. They go thru the mirror base and inside the fairing. '

Also forgot to mention the cool led 3rd eye light. Lik $3 but very bright and white.

Daylight pics forthwith

The third eye was a led bulb replacement? Or you did the led panel contraption I have seen on one of the threads?
