Bog standard ratty looking airbox with what looks like an aftermarket filter in it.

Not sure what you're seeing... but to me it looks like a stock VTR1000F airbox.. Can you post a pic and description for what you see that makes it "custom"?

I'm just looking at the fact that it's aluminum and not plastic like mine, just not sure if this was an early air box, or something special. Just trying to learn alittle more, I dont know everything about the hawk.

If your talking about this pic

It's just the stock aircleaner, and that screen is steel, not aluminum.

In the picture, the airbox is very shiny. They may have used armorall on it. It is not aluminum, it's still black plastic, but is reflecting a lot so it looks like it could be metal.

Ahhh, ok,,, sure why not,,, and if Jerry is looking at that on a phone (his link was the mobile site) it could be worse (harder to see)...

I know it's plastic, so the thought it was AL never entered my mind...

No, I am talking about the air box it self, looks like aluminum, or steel, extreamly shiny and not black like every other SH air box I have seen. Also note the rear intake hole looks like it's got metal burrs from being cut, and that shiny color is shown all the way into the air box. Just trying to learn somthing or figure out if its just an illusion.

It's black plastic. And a good price at that if you need to change
yours.

Nope, plastic like every other box you have seen...

Use the mouse over zoom and you can get a better look..... if you're on a small screen phone... I can understand how you could make that mistake.
Bottom line, it's a stock, plastic ratty air box

Yeah I I'm on my phone so maybe that's why. Just spotted it and thought it was odd looking.
