I bought a stock size 530 chain 120 links for about $100, I replaced it due to masterlink failure, otherwise I surely would have bought sprockets also and possibly went with a 520 chain. You'll have to read around and see what works for you. tThere are pros and cons to going to a 520 chain, I think the cons are higher, but the chain and sprocket set can be obtained relatively cheap on eBay.

I replaced my 530 chain with a DID 520 O-Ring chain back in October '08 with a 15 tooth front and 43 tooth rear sprockets. I have already (6 months) stretched the chain to "no more adjustments to be made point" and is wore out. I do alot of wheelies and take off like I'm heading to a fire everytime I take off. So if you are hard on the throttle, I would go back with a good 530 chain. Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Chain lasted 4600 miles and yes it was lubed every week. The 530 lasted 15000 miles with the same abuse.

Look at the D.I.D chains, they are quite beefy.
