New Chain Info and Question

After 16K, the stock chain on my 02 was getting a little kinky (No, not ball-gag and zipper mask kinky).

I found an RK X-ring chain (530XSO102) at MAW for $61 ($20 cheaper than anywhere else I looked ?)
http://www.mawonline.com/rk.htm#Chains

I was under the assumption that it came with only a rivet type link. That was fine, but I also ordered a cheap ($16 !)chain riveting tool
http://www.mikesxs.net/mikesxs-tools...ategory_id=7.1
So, I ordered a clip type master link as well, just in case the tool sucked. It worked fine and the chain came with both type links anyway, so now I've got 2 (link type) spares.

I also changed out the front sprocket (16 tooth) this time, I'll do both with the next chain.

Anyway, the only odd thing with the chain, is that it appears that I don't have as much adjustment (a few grooves on the adjusters worth) with this chain as I did when the stocker was new. Has anyone else experienced this?

How did you measure for the new chain? You can't simply lay the old and new next to each other and cut, because the old chain is stretched (Not really, but thats the real generic term for it). You have to count the links to make it the same. If you have a really worn chain, you'll find the newer chain is alot shorter than the old one, if both chains contain the same number of links.

No measuring. Stock sized sprockets, so I ordered and got 102 links.

What I'm saying is that I thought the chain would be shorter than it is, compared to the stocker.

Your sprockets could be worn. Just a guess.
