Good deal? - looking at a Superhawk

I never got over selling my 88NT 650 Hawk GT. But I am eying an 03 SuperHawk w/ under 3500 miles, bone stock and under factory warranty till summer 2010, female-ridden, never dropped/down. I am certain I can get it for $4200. Good deal, or should I pay less?

My first post by the way, but a have been lurking like a fiend for the last week. Thanks for any input.

AJ

Sounds like it was a left over. If it is what you say, it is priced fair. Buy it and have the time of your life.

I think this is a safe buy. Even if you don't like the bike, but I you will, you can still off it and b ok. Get anything you can as part of the sale, parts at cost for a year, oil changes for a year - anything - it's buyers market - especially for Superhawks.

I'd say order a set of fork springs for your weight while your at it as the stockers SUCK unless you weigh next to nothing. That seems to be the weakest point of the bike.

As for the price, you might get them to go lower as there are plenty of bikes people are trying to move. Can't hurt to ask.

Well, that's kinda true. You need to be 190 plus in the *** and about 135 up front. Fucked up but can be fixed! Fixed good too!

Erik has just shipped a shock to Jamie for conversion to the Superhawk. This will be a good deal because it uses a common shock with rez as an alternative to a $900 Penske.

Jamie has been around here for a long time. Bet on this one to happen.

You're buying a "girl's bike"? I don't know.

But seriously, since you've ridden before I'd say it's impossible for you not to love the SuperHawk. Enjoy the torque.

My 97 VFR was titled as a chick bike by rich daddy. It kinda got mixed up in things that get mixed up and she dealt it to the guys I bought if from. They got out, I got a nearly new motorcycle that was ten years old for salvage price. The title cost me $150 but if uncontested for two years it's good as gold.

In this case, the seller is male, claiming the bike was for a fem. Could be - or not. Either way...

What brand springs are right for the front? I am about 185#.

Thanks for all the input. I am getting pretty amped about the bike.

If I didn't have one already I'd buy it myself.

Yeah, I am close to sick with the urge to ride. The superhawk looks to be what I always wished my hawk gt was. I will have a look this weekend. Thanks for the replies...

Hey AJ, welcome to the froum. I too was very into my Hawk GT. I modded the hell out of that bike. Then I found a bone stock Super for $3500. Had to have it. And I am loving it more and more every season. I kept the GT for a few months, hoping my wife would want to learn to ride. She took the MSF course, got her license, rode w/ me twice then dropped it @ a stop sign. So we sold it for something with less weight (Yamaha Vino scooter). I hated seeing that bike go. But dang, look what I got now. You'll remember that NT forever probably, I know I will. It was great fun wringing it out for all it had. Pushing 9/10ths and then some. The Super on the other hand is a little more work. It's bigger and steers heavier. Twist the wrist and none of that matters. If you have the chance to get a VTR DO IT. You won't regret it.

I think that's a good deal. Low ball and see if he will let it go cheaper.

Whenever I see "girl ridden" I go "Hahaaaa"... like the big kid on Simpsons... To me, that's not a good selling point...

It's like "female driver" on a car... I immediately start looking for the bumps on the fenders and door from parking/backing up mishaps... I guess that makes me a chauvinistic pig, but I have been called worse...

And besides, there is the other end of the spectrum... I know a few "girls" that can outride most of the boys... and regularly do...

I haven't owned a Hawk Gt, but ridden one... fun little bike... And even more fun on the edge...

The difference with the big hawk is that if you're gonna wring it's neck like with the little one you either need to be a little crazy, or on a closed track... It's got a bigger bark, and a bigger bite as well... Not quite like some never 160+ bhp bikes... But plenty enough to make things interesting...
