century mark
I had a great day out with the VTR today. I had business to attend to so I used it as an excuse to take the VTR out for a shakedown. The bike continues to surprise me as I get to know it a bit better. I've almost got the shifting to the point of very little noticeable transition, smooth and tight. It might be the first time the bike has see the century mark. I had it on some sweepers and was having a blast when I looked down and noticed I was in the 90 to 100 mark. Thing is, it felt like 60 max. Maybe something wrong with speedo? It felt very solid and smooth, (glad I got the suspension set). It's probably my imagination, but it sounds like it idles better and has slightly deeper tone. It feels like it's running better after the good work out. Is it possible that running it fast and hard could have an effect on the way it runs? It's probably my imagination. This is a fun bike! Almost as good as sex!

90 on my old beemer felt like 70 but it's still very different, like knight and day. That bike was set up as a cafe racer with stiff suspension and a frame that wiggled all over the place when pushed into turns at speed. No amount of fork brace, frame brace and swing arm brace could take that out. The VTR is altogether different. At 90 it really felt much more like 60. I was surprised. Now it seems like the VTR runs better. Idle, off 1st gear, just feels smoother after a day of romping in the century zone. 60 fells like a snail pace.
