Alright, I did a search and came up with nothing. I want to remove my case covers to finish cleaning up road rash from before I got the bike and possibly make some molds. My question is, what do I really need to look out for during disassembly and reassembly. Any special tools required or anything for reassembly? I've never removed the covers on any bike so I don't know what all is inside them.

Well the first thing you should get is a manual. My Haynes is pretty good. What do you need? Going by memory from the last time I removed the clutch cover...A ratchet, some sockets, a rubber mallet to tap it loose if it sticks a little. Probably a good idea to label the bolts since some are different lengths. Don't lose any of the little dowels. You'll need a new gasket. Clean off the old real well of course. I also like to dab a little hondabond ht to help hold the gasket in place during reassembly. Alternator cover is also pretty straighforward. I don't remember anything flying out at me with either one. Forgive me if I miss anything I've been up all night. There are lots of good mechanics on here better than me so I'm sure they'll chime in.
