Buying in another state
Buying in another state
Hi guys,
I'm might end up buying a superhawk tomorrow in Maryland (I live in Virginia).
So once I get the title signed over to me how do I transport the bike. Will the seller let me keep the plates.
I guess my check list is:
1. Check the Title that it is clean and clear
2. See that the ID matches the title
3. Get the bill of sale done?
4. Exchange cash
5. Call my insurance and get the bike added to it
Then what ?

Run a VIN check online, pay service. If seller will not supply VIN# in advance consider that to be an issue and walk away.
If a credit union member get a temp. tag from them
If the bike is not what you expect when you show up, walk away. There will be another on a different day.

Like you said- clean title 1st. Some sellers wil let you take the plate home and mail back. I wouldnt do it but some do. Bill of sale 2nd with all contact info for seller. 3rd if your ins co will give you a policy to transport/ride it home w/out numbers or in my state if you have ins already you can ride it home with out plates (title in hand) straight home and be covered on the same day as the sale. Be sure to have it dated. Obviously I dont know what your state allows but thats how I've done it. Good Luck.
Wow I didn't know that :-) ... thanks.
