Buy VTR oil filter at auto parts store???

Does anybody know of a quality oil filter that will interchange with the Honda filter on my 03 VTR1000 that I can buy at an auto parts store?
Do you have the part number?

I'm picking up my 03 Superhawk today (Sunday) with only 600 miles. It needs its 1st oil change.

I don't know if I can wait to ride it until tomorrow when I can get a Honda filter.
I don't want to ride past the most important 1st oil change interval.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
BK

I heard some bad stuff about Fram filters. I stick with the honda filter, I get it for about 10$.

I've been using Walmart's $2 ST6607 for years on several honda's. Buy lots/change often. As usual, YMMV.

An extra hundred miles isn't going to make any difference anyway.

Re: Buy VTR oil filter at auto parts store???

Had to change it Sunday.
Did a 452 mile ride Monday.
Glad I did it. looking at the oil in the sun light showed extremely fine metal in the break in oil.
I had to look very closely in just the right light to see it but it was there.
I'm changing it again this week just to be sure. I want this bike to last tens of thousands of miles !
