Argg Minor Accident lady turns Right as I'm going around her.
So I go to pass this lady who is stopped and she turns into me. Still waiting for insurance to work it out. I say it's all her fault! She never looked in her mirrors signaled or anything. She was behind somebody who turned left and then she turned right into her Driveway..pinning me up against her car and the curb as I was going around her..the bike and I went up and over the handle bars.
It would be like a Stoppie gone wrong sort of damage.
The damage isn't too bad at least I rode it around to check the forks...they seem straight...
Windscreen blew up
Front Left Fairing all scratched up blinker obliterated
Upper Fairing Cracked and scratched up
Gauge cluster popped out of position
Fairing stay bent
Left Engine Cover Scratched
Tail Section cracked (it went up and over)
Mirrors stayed on but scratched up
I think that's about it...it was a real slow accident about 5MPH...
I'm wondering if I should just street fight the thing...
Suggestions? How hard is it to hook up a Streetfighter style headlight set up? Do they sell kits?
Thanks...
Few pics attached...I guess after looking at them again it's not so bad..

google streetfighter motorcycle kits, there are a few websites out there that specialize in that and the kits are universal (save for fork diameter). If i'm not mistaken there is a good shop for that stuff in oakland; i believe the name is godspeed cycles (something like that).
Sorry to hear about the accident, but you gotta watch for that ****, especially in cali, the whole turn signal craze hasn't made it there yet.

Familiar with Godspeed...and the Rats.
Actually they would probably be the best Resource seeing as how a lot of their bikes have that thrashed and streetfighter look.
and i had the best ride of my life that day...and 2 blocks from home i get hit....she wasn't paying attention...
thanks!

Damn that sux! You gotta watch that passing on the right. Here in Maryland it is illegal but everyone does it anyway, even the Cops. I'm not a fan of the streetfighter look. I'd save to replace the big stuff and polish/paint the little stuff.
Hope everything works out for you and glad you weren't hurt. DAMN!......Seems like I have been writing this a lot, Let's all be a little more careful out there, can we please?

I was "lane sharing" around her
I found this:
21754. The driver of a motor vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions:
(a) When the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn.
(b) Upon a highway within a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles in the direction of travel.
(c) Upon any highway outside of a business or residence district with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width and clearly marked for two or more lines of moving traffic in the direction of travel.
(d) Upon a one-way street.
(e) Upon a highway divided into two roadways where traffic is restricted to one direction upon each of such roadways.
The provisions of this section shall not relieve the driver of a slow moving vehicle from the duty to drive as closely as practicable to the right hand edge of the roadway.

well, this is the way alot of bicyclist get nailed too, its pretty uncommon for drivers to think of checking for someone on the right of them when they think they are as far over right as possible. Hopefully they fault her, but its probably going to be a 50% deal. Glad you weren't hurt bikes can be fixed.

I did some work on the bike last night.
Really the main thing I need to replace is the Fairing stay and a windscreen....I can put everything else back...
I bent back the sub frame rear seat lock bracket...
and was able to pull apart the plastics...a little rash and one big crack...I can live with that...an engine cover would be nice because it's scratched...
a left blinker...minor things...not too bad...

Passing on the right on a single lane road is never a good idea, you can't trust what a driver will do. Also, when lane splitting on the freeway, it should only be done between the #1 and #2 lanes. Drivers don't expect to see motorcycles splitting lanes farther to the right, and it takes their attention away from those of us between 1 and 2.
Having said that, I'm glad you're okay and your bike didn't get major damage.

Generally true, but when there is a no emergency lane, such as in a construction zone, or some LA freeways, drivers in the fast lane are afraid to drive close to the wall, so your gap will be smaller.
In this case I split between the #2 and #3 lanes. But otherwise yeah, there's less cars changing lanes between 1 and 2.
In fact, if there's no emergency lane, I just stay out of the left lane entirely. Because all the garbage and wood planks, nails, and tire treads that get run over end up against that wall or in the lane and cars can run over that **** and throw it up at you. The same applies to the dead space between a carpool lane and fast lane. Don't ride there because all the crap ends up there.
