Another tour under my belt...

Hi guys..

Just got home from a terrific group fund-raiser ride from my home into the Canadian Rockies..through some of the best roads there and then..out across the Prairies and home...about 5000 km.. or 3000 miles...
Observations: the Tomaselli Clip-ons were magic..no more hand or arm aches
the stock seat is terrible..duh..end up puttings some towels on it
tires don't last on this bike
good brakes..maybe not for track but for me adequate
this bike can move in the curves..man what a blast
this actually is a very good sport touring mount
lubing chain a pain..and quite a mess by the end of the trip
used no oil...ran it hard..very warm weather..impressed
seems to be a very tough well made bike...
On way home rode from Winnipeg to my place last hour...about 140 kph...about 80 mph..steady for an hour..sweet...
Ladies and gentlemen this is a bike of durable substance...
Buffed it up today...and it looks great...
What are you doing in 2008....Halifax to Vancouver..what da ya say...
Following the Son..STEEL HORSE RIDE...whhooo hoooo

Next summer most likely. It is one of my most wanted. May push on to Alaska. Prob not on the Sh but could be on an St - I will look you up - not going to come that far without it. I have always appreciated your posts although I think you regard me as irreverrent and obnoxious. We can sort that when I get there!

Hey Nuhawk..
Love to have you come by anytime...I think we would get on just fine..I ran an ST 1300 for awhile..wife hated it..But I have never ridden a finer sport touring machine...I think it is theeee bike of choice for crunching big miles..Handled far better than a bike that heavy should..
You take care..

You know, I'm not that far from Montreal...and Halifax for that matter. Problem with the Halifax to Vancouver ride is that (from the look of the map) most of the roads in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta look really flat and boring. You've ridden these roads so maybe you can elaborate?

ps. HawkRider, the main route to Montreal is boring as hell too. Unless you sideline up the lakes (that's a rip) - if you head up there, swing over to Amsterdam and grab me on the way....

Hehehe, will do. But we'll have to plan this out since both our work schedules are wierd. ****, we live like 15 miles away from each other and still haven't hooked up yet!
