RVT vs VTR
My best bud has a fairly tricked out (performance wise) 01 RVT that I happened to ride today, and he my well moded 98 VTR. Even without considering the torture rack the RVT is without his rearsets and with a 180/55 instead of the OEM 190/50, the thing has to be positively wrestled over to turn, though it is stable once it gets there. My VTR on the other hand is a veritable 250 in comparison and I only have to think and its already leaned over; abeit possible with less stability and composure. He says his RVT is cranking out about 130+ hp & 76 '# but it does not rev that much quicker than my VTR and has to be rev'd farther because of the higher peaks.
Personally, I could never ride an RVT no matter what comfort mods were made, unless it was converted to mimic a Tuono. The handling is too slow and/or requires too much imput for my tastes. Of course I was raised on BSA 250 singles and 250~400 2-strokes. Weight wise, I think the VTR is and feels a bit lighter, lower and more balanced than a RVT; its thottle response is also much smoother and more controllable. Yes, a RVT will blow the doors off a VTR but on most tight and twisty roads, the VTR will hang with it.

It has a removable rear seat pad so the girlfriend can go with me.. we took a 50mi ride on Sunday and she said its easier to stay put on the RC than the Hawk because the seat is flatter so she does not keep sliding forward everytime I stop.
